EASTERN ORTHODOXY AND THE SEE OF PETER

"Eastern Orthodoxy and the See of Peter" contains 3 Chapters which give an account of and the reasons for Mr. Likoudis’ own reconciliation with the Catholic Church from Greek Orthodoxy while a student at the University. Other Chapters deal with Reflections on the History of the Byzantine Schism, "Apologetics, the Papacy, and Eastern Orthodoxy", the "Marks of the Church", "Eastern Orthodoxy and Contraception: Humanae Vitae as Touchstone of the True Church", the first English translation of Blessed Pius IX’s 1848 encyclical "In Suprema Petri" calling for the Reunion of the separated Eastern Churches, and publication of conferences on Original Sin in Eastern Orthodoxy, Our Lady as Mediatrix and Coredemptrix in Eastern theology, and the Mariology of the 14th c. dissident Byzantine theologian Gregory Palamas.

Marty Barrack has written several books including the ground setting Second Exodus. He has an apostolate taking its name from the Book.
The Second Exodus Apostolate helps Catholic prepare for heaven through illumination of the Jewish origins of the Catholic Church. If we think of the apostolate as a target, the very center is the Second Exodus book. It is the heart and soul, of the apostolate. Most of the Second Exodus information is only in the book. Surrounding the book, the inner ring would be the interior which answers questions about the book and the apostolate’s perspective. The outer ring would be my personal enthusiasms. The Catholic Church extends from earth to heaven and from two thousand years ago to the end of time. It has so much to be excited about that I have to share at least some. Vatican documents, Catholic education, evangelization, patron saints, prayer, prolife, formative professions, and my passion for Catholic definitions are just a sample.

While surfing the Web for sites to add to the "Links" page I often come upon sites that contain "mis-information" (I use that term out of charity) about the Catholic Church. They attack the Sacraments, the Pope and his office, and various other Catholic beliefs and practices. Often these sites mis-quote bible verses to back up their claims. I have yet to figure out why other so-called Christians seem to think their life calling is to defame the Catholic Church. They don’t attack any other denomination or faith, only Catholics. If the Catholic Church were really like what these sites say, very few people would belong to it, and you’d think the hundreds of millions of Catholic’s in the world today, as well as the millions more who join it every year, would indicate to the people who created those anti-Catholic web sites that maybe they are missing something.
