Ahroun means "strength" in the lupin tongue, but Aelerin is not a credit to the tribe; the young vulpin disdains the use of brute force and prefers to outthink her opponents.

She is paranoid about death, at least in part due to her small size, and thus refuses to hunt alone. While the Ahroun tribe consists mostly of fighters, she prefers to use her training to blast at her enemies from the relative safety of the mid row. And when people around her start dying, she does her best to get out fast.

All this means that the other Ahrouns, and indeed most lupins, have made her an outcast of sorts. So far only two have shown her kindness: the werewolf Dyne and her role model, the vulpin Torch. Aelerin has long envied Torch's showmanship as a fighter. Since becoming a bladesinger like him is out of the question, she decided the next best thing would be to train as a member of the flashy illusionist guild.
