CHAPTER SIX
HELENA FOCUSED ON thoughts of Sonny and Carly as she gazed intently into her crystal ball. Suddenly, a scene unfolded before her eyes. At first all she could see was a jet flying towards the rising sun. Then the scene dissolved to what was going on inside the jet. Sonny and Carly were tangled amongst the satin sheets as they made wild, passionate love to each other. “Why must vampires be such sexual creatures.” She scorned. “They’re too busy giving into their base instincts to even realize they’re flying straight towards their own destruction.”
Helena’s thoughts focused on the cockpit and it suddenly appeared before her eyes. Taub seemed to sense he was being observed and seemed to know exactly who was observing him as he looked over his shoulder. “It’s too late, Witch. There’s nothing you can do to stop me now.”
“That’s what you think, Demon.” She spat back. “Just watch what I do.”
BOBBIE ROUNDED ON Sorel as he entered the room he was keeping her a prisoner in. “Just why have you abducted me.”
He eyed Bobbie up and down as the heat of bloodlust began to fill his veins. “You can blame your abduction on Sonny Corinthos.” He told her as he came nearer. “He’s the reason you’re here.” His eyes focused on her heaving bosom. “You know, you’re built just the way I like my women.”
“As if!” She sneered. “Get away from me. If you dare to even touch me my brother will kill you.”
“Your brother?” He threw back his head and laughed. “What do I have to fear from a mere mortal. If he dares to mess with me, I’ll enslave him the same way I intend to enslave you.”
“Enslave?” Bobbie repeated dumbly. “Mortal? What the heck are you talking about? Are you on drugs or something? What’s the matter, Sorel, you indulging in some of the same dope you’re spreading around on the streets.”
“You’re a complete innocent, aren’t you?” He mused. “I bet you don’t even have any idea what your birthed into this world. My dear, Ms. Spencer, your daughter is a vampire. Sonny Corinthos is a vampire. I’m a vampire. And very soon so shall you.” Bobbie screamed as he bared his fangs and landed on her, his teeth sinking into her neck as her greedily fed upon her.
INSIDE THE PLANE Sonny pulled away from Carly as his passion for her was overcome by pain. “There’s something wrong.”
“I feel it too.” She felt the same pain.
Sonny looked around desperately to try and discover what was causing their distress. “Why is this room suddenly so bright.”
“Oh, my God, Sonny.” Carly realized in horror what was wrong. “It’s the sun. Sonny, we’re flying straight for the sun. What are we going to do?”
Sonny grabbed Carly by the hand and dragged her towards the closet. “Let’s get in here. It’s dark in here.”
“Sonny, this isn’t going to protect us.” She held on to him for dear life needing the illusion of safety that his arms provided her.
“It’s the only thing we can do.” He held her tightly needing the comfort that holding her provided him.
“Sonny, it hurts.” Carly moaned in pain. “Please do something. make it stop.”
“I wish I could, baby.” He rocked her in his arms as the same agonizing pain filled his body. “I wish I could.”
“We’re going to die, aren’t we?” She looked into his eyes. “Sonny, I don’t want to die. Not now when I’ve finally found you.” She shrieked in agony. “God, why is this happening now just when we finally found each other.”
In the cockpit Taub was whistling a happy tune as he flew closer and closer to the sun. “Do you hear that, Witch.” He yelled to Helena who he knew was still watching and listening. “Do you hear the screams of your stallion and mare as they lay dying in each other’s arms?”
Suddenly the sun began to grow dimmer. “What’s happening.” He shouted in dismay, which turned to outrage when he realized what was happening. “No! Not now!” The moon was moving in front of the sun creating a total eclipse of the sun. “You’re responsible for this, aren’t you, Witch!
In the closet, Sonny and Carly’s pain began to recede. “It’s going away.”
“What do you think it means?” She asked still filled with terror.
“I don’t know.” Sonny admitted. “But I guess there’s only one way to find out.” He began to open the door.
Carly pulled it closed. “Are you insane. “ She screamed. “If you go out there you could die.”
“Carly, we can’t stay in here for the rest of our lives cowering in fear.” He retorted angrily.
“Fine.” She spat back. “If you’re going out there than so am I. Whatever happens to you, happens to me.”
They peeked their heads out of the closet and saw that the sun wasn’t shining through the curtains of the window any longer. “How could the sun have disappeared when it was shining only a few minutes ago.” He starts to head for the cockpit.
Carly grabs him to stop him, “Where are you going now?”
“To confront the pilot.” Sonny explained. “I instructed the pilot to head this plane west so we’d stay clear of the sun and he obviously disobeyed my orders.”
Carly followed Sonny into the cockpit. To their shock it was empty. “What happened to the pilot?”
“I don’t know.” Sonny answered as he sat behind the wheel. “But that answers the question of what happened to the sun. It’s been eclipsed by the moon.”
“What are you doing?”
“Someone has to fly this plane.” He retorted. “It sure isn’t going to fly by itself.”
“Do you even know how to fly a plane?” She asked as she sat in the co-pilots seat.
“No.” He answered. “But it doesn’t matter. We have no idea how long this eclipse is going to last. If we don’t figure out how to turn this plane around and get it away from the sun it won’t matter if I crash it. We’re going to die anyway.”
AT THE SAME time Leopold Taub stood in front of Damian having judgment passed down upon him. “What do you have to say for yourself, Taub?”
Taub glared at Olivia Jerome who stood by Damian’s side. “You bitch!” He sneered. “You betrayed me.”
“What can I say, Taub.” She replied. “I didn’t end up here because I’m excessively loyal.”
Taub turned back to Damian. “This isn’t over, Smith.” He declared as venom continued to drip from his tongue. “You stopped me, but there will be someone else to take my place. Don’t doubt that. As your whore can tell you, I’m not the only one that refuses to be ruled by you. Using me as an example to anyone that dares to cross you won’t stop the rebellion. It won’t stop until you’re rotting down in the depths of hell with me.”
“Then you know your sentence.” Damian snarled in displeasure as his eyes began to glow like two red-hot coals. “So shall it be.” The floor beneath taub dissolved into mist and Taub went hurtling down to the place in hell that all demons lived in fear of being sent to. It was the worst punishment a demon could be sentenced to. It was the place that souls were sent to who were deemed irredeemable even by hell’s standards. The place where souls lived in constant pain and agony for all eternity and became physically grotesque as they took on the form of the demons they truly were. Once a demon was sent there, there was no coming back. in short it was the true meaning of eternal damnation.
Olivia and Damian listened to Taub’s screams as he continued to fall towards the pit he was sentenced to. “He’s right you know.” Olivia said as Taub’s screams began to fade as the distance became too great to hear him any longer. “The others will pick up where he left off.”
“Then Taub won’t be lonely in his new living quarters, will he.” Damian replied coldly.
SOREL LEANED DOWN and covered Bobbie’s nude body with a sheet. “Now that wasn’t so bad, was it?” He asked as he finished getting dressed. “In fact, I’m sure you enjoyed it. Eh, Bobbie? You don‘t mind if I call you Bobbie, do you? After what we just shared I think it‘s a little silly to call you Ms. Spencer.”
Bobbie was too drained to reply. She was drained not only by blood loss but sexually as well. She just laid there in numb silence. Finally, she managed the energy to speak. “What have you done to me?
“I’ve begun the process to make you one of us.” He replied. “Two more times is all it will take. Once your daughter marries Sonny I think it will be most beneficial to me to have you under my power. You see, you’re going to help me destroy Sonny once and for all, then the Brotherhood will belong to me.” He added on a tender note. “Rest now. I’ll be back later to finish your initiation and believe me you’re going to need all the strength you can get.”
As soon as Sorel leaves the room Stefan appears and approaches Bobbie. “Oh, Barbara, what has he done to you?” Stefan sits down by the side of the bed and caresses Bobbie’s hair. “There’s no love lost between us but I would never wish this on you.” He picks Bobbie up in his arms. “Perhaps it’s not too late to stop Sorel from transforming you into what he is. The least I can do is try.” He and Bobbie vanish from the room as if they were never there.
SONNY BREATHES A sigh of relief as he steers the plane safely away from the deadly sun. “We’re safe now. We’ve left the sun far behind us.”
“We’re safe. “ Carly worries as she rubs her stomach. “But is our baby. Sonny, do you think what happened harmed our baby in any way?”
“I don’t know.” He replied equally worried placing his hand over where the baby was growing inside of Carly. “We’ll have you examined as soon as we get back to Port Charles.”
“Sonny, what happened?” She asked already knowing the answer.
“Carly, you know what happened.” He looked at her. “Someone tried to kill us.”
“Why?” She asked. “Why would someone want to hurt us? Is it because we’re vampires and we’re having a baby together.”
“I don’t know.” He admitted. “Maybe someone feels threatened because we’re breaking all the rules by being together and having a child together. Maybe they’re afraid if we succeed at making this thing between us work more vampires will do the same thing.”
“You mean the witches?” She asked with disdain.
“That’s who I was thinking of.” He agreed. “The mortals don’t even believe in our existence. The witches do. Maybe they’re afraid if vampires stick to their own kind we might become the ruling class. A lot of the witches have diluted their bloodlines over the centuries by mating with mortals. They’re sort of becoming a dying race. The vampires have done the same thing. But if vampires start mating with each other our bloodlines will be pure and there’s a lot more of us around than there are of them.’
“If it is the witches.” Carly bit on her bottom lip. “How will we stop them from destroying us. You yourself said their more powerful than a vampire. If they want to destroy us will we even be able to stop them?”
“I don’t know.” He decided to level with her since her life was on the line as well as his. “It might not even be the witches. It could be Sorel. Maybe he didn’t really kidnap Bobbie. He may just have said he did to lure us into a trap.”
“And if not Sorel.” Another thought occurred to Carly. “Then maybe it was another one of the vampires. Maybe they don’t like it that we’re together, either.”
“It’s possible.” He put the plane on automatic pilot. “The truth is it could be any number of people. All we know for sure is that someone is trying to kill us and we’ve got to find out who it is before they succeed.” He added. “Now, you and I have got to get off this plane, pronto.”
“What do you mean get off.” She asked.
“Carly, I may be able to turn this bird around.” Sonny told her. “But there’s no way I can land it. We’re going to have jump out of the plane.”
“There’s no way I’m jumping out of this plane.” She told him stubbornly.
“Carly, you have two choices.” He snapped. “You stay on the plane and die or you jump out of the plane with me and live.” He begins searching the plane for two parachutes. “It’s too bad the mortal folklore about us being able to turn into bat’s isn’t true, then jumping out of this plane would be a piece of cake.” He finally finds what he’s looking for.
Sonny puts the parachute on her and buckles it up. “Sonny, I can’t do this.”
“Sure you can.” He assured her as he put his own parachute on. “Just count to ten then pull the cord.”
Carly shook her head as she backed away from him. “Sonny, please don’t make me do this.”
Sonny holds her face in his hands. “Carly, if you won’t do if for yourself or me, do it for our baby.” He took her hand and led her to the plane’s door, then he opened it. “This is the only way he can live. I’ll hold your hand all the way down.” He locks eyes with her. “On the count of three. One...Two...Three.” With that they jumped out of the plane together.
