CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN
SONNY’S PENTHOUSE:
Sonny: That’s blackmail. You know I’ll never let them put you in jail because of me.
Carly: Then I guess you have no choice but to marry me, do you.
Sonny: You’re certainly not giving me one, are you.
Carly: (looks at her watch)If we hurry, we can make it down to City Hall before it closes for the night.
Sonny: We’re not getting married in City Hall.
Carly: I suppose we could go to Las Vegas and get married in one of those all-night chapels.
Sonny: We are not getting married in one of those sleazy take-a-number chapels by some boozed-up Elvis impersonator.
Carly: Then where are we going to get married.
Sonny: At Queen of Angels by Father Coates like we planned. In case it’s slipped your mind we have the church booked for July 7th.
Carly: Is the church still reserved?
Sonny: Yeah, Father Coates even dropped by wondering when we were going to have our pre-marital counseling sessions with him.
Carly: When did Father Coates drop by?
Sonny: He dropped by the warehouse the other day wondering when we wanted to meet with him.
Carly: And you didn’t tell me.
Sonny: The subject just didn’t come up.
Carly: Well, if it had, I wouldn’t have had to practically blackmail you into marrying me. July 7th. Sonny, I don’t know. That seems an awfully long time away. I think we should get married right away. What if Larkin manages to get a grand jury hearing set for sooner than that.
Sonny: Larkin hasn’t even had me arrested for trafficking in drugs, yet. I think we’ve got enough time. It’s going to take him awhile to find enough fake witnesses to testify against me.
Carly: So, I’m going to be Mrs. Michael Corinthos in a few weeks time. (then it hits her)I’m going to be Mrs. Michael Corinthos in a few weeks time. I’ve only got a few weeks to plan a wedding. I’ve got to get a wedding gown, call the caterers, find a place to hold our reception, call the florists, have invitations printed and delivered, select our china pattern...How am I supposed to do all that in a few weeks time.
Sonny: I thought you said it was a long time.
Carly: It’s a long time when we’ve got a grand jury hearing hanging over our heads. It’s a short time when I’ve got a wedding to plan. Sonny, you have no idea all that goes into planning a wedding.
Sonny: You had no problem when you married AJ and that was put together at short notice.
Carly: That’s because I didn’t do anything. All I had to do was show-up. That’s another thing. At your last wedding, weren’t you a no-show?(he opens his mouth to answer, but she hushes him up)Oh, I don’t have time to hear it. I’ve got to fit months of wedding plans into a few weeks. Thanks a lot, Sonny.
Sonny(as he watches her rush out of the apartment)Women!
Carly(sticks her head back in the door)I heard that. And you’d better show up at our wedding, because if you don’t, I’ll hunt you down and skin you alive.(with that, she slams the door behind her)
EMERGENCY ROOM, GENERAL HOSPITAL:
THE WAITING ROOM:
Roy(pacing the floor)Bobbie, you know I didn’t mean to hurt the man. He just pushed my buttons and I pushed back.
Bobbie: I know, Roy. This isn’t your fault. Stefan provoked you. He has a way of doing that to people.
Roy: Bobbie, how did you know he had something wrong with his kidneys.
Bobbie: It’s like I explained to Stefan. I was in Tony’s office and I saw Stefan’s medical file laying on the desk and I looked at it.
Roy: Why would you look at his medical file.
Bobbie; Tony had just told me Stefan had tried to get me fired while you and I were off on the run. I know how much Stefan values his privacy and when I saw his file laying there I thought I’d get some petty revenge on him by looking at his file and invading his privacy.
Roy: Bobbie, what if Cassadine presses charges against me.
Bobbie: For what?
Roy: For assaulting him.
Bobbie: Roy, all you did was push him. You didn’t assault him. There’s no way an assault charge would stick.
Roy: Bobbie, I’m still on parole. It wouldn’t matter if the charges stuck or not. All I would need is for Cassadine to charge me with assault to have my parole revoked. Bobbie, if I get sent back to prison to serve out the rest of my time I won’t survive it alive. All the prisoners know I’m a snitch. In prison there’s nothing worse than a snitch.
Bobbie: Roy, I’m sure you’re worrying about nothing.
Roy; I’m not.
THE EXAMINING ROOM:
Tony: I gave you some pain medication to relieve your pain so it should be more bearable in a few minutes time.
Stefan: What damage did that Neanderthal do to me.
Tony: Your recent tests showed that your remaining functioning kidney has deteriorated faster than we anticipated. The recent blow you took to your kidney has caused further damage to it. We need to go in and try and stop the bleeding. We’ll try to patch up the damage your fall caused you, but it’ll be like patching a roof. It’s only a temporary measure and eventually the roof has to be replaced.
Stefan: You think I need to start looking at a kidney transplant.
Tony: Even if you’re lucky and the damage to your kidney can repaired and it doesn’t have to be removed, at the rate your kidney is deteriorating at you’re looking at a transplant in your immediate future.
Alexis(rushes in) Stefan, what happened.
Stefan: That Neanderthal lover of Barbara’s pushed me into my desk. It looks like I’m going to have to take you up on your offer of a kidney sooner than I hoped.
Alexis: Just tell me when and it’s yours.(she looked at Tony) When do you want to do it?
Tony: Just hold on. We don’t even know what we’re looking at with Stefan’s kidney, yet.
Stefan: Alexis, while I’m in surgery I want you to do something for me.
Alexis: Anything.
Stefan: I want you to go to Mac Scorpio and press assault charges against Roy DeLucca for me.
