CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR

SCORPIO HOUSE:

Taggart(pulls out his gun and points it at Chloe)Freeze!

Chloe(flattens herself against a wall and puts her hands up)Mac, what is the meaning of this.

Mac: Taggart, calm down.

Taggart: (looks her up and down insolently)Did you really think you could get yourself off the hook by putting out for the police commissioner.

Chloe; How dare you! (she turns to Alexis)Alexis, you’re my lawyer. Make him stop. (she finally notices the way Alexis is looking at her)Alexis, why are you looking at me like that. What’s wrong?

Taggart: How do you expect her to be looking at you after she saw you try to murder Bobbie Spencer last night, Sex Toy Stalker.

Chloe: What! Is this some kind of sick joke. Mac, would you please call him off.

Alexis: It’s true, Chloe. I saw you try to murder Bobbie.

Chloe: Alexis, that’s ridiculous. Tell her, Mac.

Mac: Just when was this when you saw Chloe attacking Bobbie.

Alexis: It was last night around one in the morning.

Mac; That’s impossible. Chloe was with me.

Alexis: I know what I saw.

Mac: And I know who I was in bed with.

Taggart: Maybe she managed to slip out when you fell asleep.

Mac: That’s not possible. We haven’t been asleep at any point during the night. I don’t know who you saw, Alexis, but it couldn’t have been Chloe. She was with me in every sense of the word.

GENERAL HOSPITAL:

Carly: What did you say?

Stefan: You didn’t know? I just assumed Bobbie had told you. I thought that’s why she called you back from your honeymoon. To tell you I‘m your father.

Carly(shook her head in denial)No, this is impossible. You can’t be my father. My mother told me she had no idea who my father was when I asked her if she knew. Are you telling me she’s known all this time and kept it from me. That I’ve been living in the same town with my father all this time and she didn’t say one word about it to me.

Stefan: Your mother had her reasons.

Carly: They’d better be damn good ones. Did you know I was your daughter all this time? Did you tell her not to tell me? Were you ashamed to have me for a daughter? Is that why my mother never told me the truth?

Stefan: No, until recently I had no idea you were my daughter.

Carly: Are you saying my mother just told you? If she’s kept the secret all this time why would she suddenly tell you the truth now?

Stefan: She knows I’m having some medical problems at the moment. My kidney’s are failing me. All the possible donors have been incompatible. So your mother felt she had no choice but to tell me the truth.

Carly: In other words you’re claiming me as your daughter because you want a kidney from me to save your life?

Stefan: No, that’s not why I’m claiming you. If I had known the truth before I would have acknowledged you as my daughter immediately.

Carly: Look, I can’t deal with this, right now. I can’t deal with you. I’ve got enough problems trying to deal with my husband at the moment. (With that she heads to the elevator and pressed the call button. As she’s waiting for the elevator to arrive it suddenly hits her)My god, he was right. He said even if the baby was healthy something would happen to make sure it was never born. Damn you, Sonny. Damn you for being right.(just then the elevator doors slide open and Sonny’s standing there)

Sonny: I took care of AJ as quickly as possible and I rushed back here. What did the doctor have to say.

Carly(was filled with rage at the sight of Sonny, irrationally feeling all his doom and gloom talk had brought this on. Without even thinking she slapped him across the face and snarled at him)Congratulations, Sonny, you were right. I hope you’re happy.(then she ran away from him)

Sonny(chased after her)Carly, wait! What’s wrong! What happened!

Alexis(looks back at Sonny running off after Carly)What happened there? Aren’t they supposed to be off on their honeymoon?

Stefan: I thought she knew. She was back from her honeymoon and she said Bobbie had called her back to town so I just assumed Barbara had told her the truth.

Alexis: And you let her know she’s your daughter? Did you tell her that Bobbie was planning to barter her kidney to get her boyfriend out of jail.

Stefan: I tried to protect Barbara as much as I could in her eyes. I will make Barbara pay for her deception. What happened with the Stalker didn’t soften me in the slightest towards her. But I won’t blacken her in our daughter’s eyes. It’s the worst thing in the world to know the truth about your parents. I know. I speak for experience.

Alexis: And from the little scene I just witnessed she didn’t take the news well.

Stefan: She thinks I’m only claiming her because I want one of her kidneys?

Alexis: Don’t you? Stefan, if you had known before this that Carly was your daughter would you have claimed her?

Stefan: I believe I would have?

Alexis: Even if you thought by revealing that you share a child with Bobbie you would have damaged your chances with Laura. Stefan, you’ve been obsessed with the woman for years and you’ve let nothing get in the way of your obsession. Part of the reason you were such a wonderful father to Nikolas was because he was Laura’s child. Face facts, Stefan, neither you nor Bobbie would win an award for being good parents when it comes to Carly. Just like Bobbie has, you would have put your own selfish needs above being a parent to Carly.

Stefan: What are you doing here, Alexis, I thought you left with Detective Taggart?

Alexis: I did. I thought you should know there’s a chance you were right about Helena. She could still be the Sex Toy Stalker.

Stefan: But we both saw Chloe Morgan trying to kill Barbara, last night.

Alexis: There’s no way it could have been Chloe. At the time we saw her trying to kill Bobbie, Chloe was getting physical with Mac Scorpio.

Stefan: Are you sure Scorpio wasn’t lying for her. He wouldn’t be the first man who lied for a woman.

Alexis: Stefan, I was there. Whoever tried to kill Bobbie wasn’t Chloe. It had to be someone wearing some sort of latex mask to make herself look exactly like Chloe.

Stefan: Then it could be mother. She could have been planning to frame Chloe Morgan for the killings. And if that’s the case that means Barbara’s still in danger from her.
