CHAPTER SIXTY

DR. MEADOW’S OFFICE, GENERAL HOSPITAL:

Sonny: What do you mean there’s another baby? That we were having twins? You never said anything about two babies when we did the sonogram.

Dr. Meadows: That’s because the other baby didn’t show up on the sonogram.

Carly: How is that possible.

Dr. Meadows: We were only looking for one baby when we did the sonogram and sometimes with multiple births the other fetuses are so small they don’t show up when we do a sonogram until they get bigger.

Sonny: Why would the other baby be so small it wouldn‘t show up on the sonogram. They were both conceived at the same time so wouldn’t they be growing at the same rate.

Dr. Meadows: I suppose the best way to explain this would be to use an analogy of what happens when you plant two rose bushes in the same plot of ground. Sometimes one of the rose bushes can take up all the ground as it grows and flourishes preventing the other rose bush from growing and flourishing.

Sonny: So what you’re saying is our healthy baby died while our weak baby survived?

Carly: Sonny!

Sonny: Is that why you called us back here? You think there may be something wrong with this baby?

Dr. Meadows: We won’t know what kind of condition this baby is in until we run tests and we need to do them immediately so we’ll know what we’re dealing with. I’ll just go and arrange for them to be done, now.

Carly(turns on Sonny the minute Dr. Meadows is out the door)What the hell is wrong with you? Why aren’t you happy about this? Why aren’t you jumping for joy? Sonny, we’re still going to have a baby. One of our babies died, but the our other baby survived.

Sonny: Were you not listening to what Dr. Meadows said? She thinks there’s something wrong with this baby. That it’s too small. That it hasn’t developed normally. If the fall hadn’t happened(he motions to her stomach)that’s the baby that would have died.

Carly(places a hand protectively over her stomach to shield the baby from Sonny’s words)Sonny, there is nothing wrong with this baby. He or she is perfectly fine. This baby is stronger than its brother was. While his brother died, he survived.

Sonny: Just look at you! You’re not even showing. That’s not a good sign. Just how small can this baby be for you to be this far along in your pregnancy for you to not be showing at all.

Carly: Sonny, I’ve had it up to here with you and your signs. Why can’t you be happy about this. Why do you have to see only the negative side of this.

Sonny: Because there is no positive side to this. You and I just started to get past losing the baby and now I find out we’re going to have to live through it all over again. What the hell is there to be happy about that!

Carly: You’re wrong, Sonny. This baby is a survivor and when Dr. Meadows runs her tests you’re going to find out that this baby is in perfect health just like his brother was and that there’s nothing wrong with him. You just wait and see.

BOBBIE’S BEDROOM, THE BROWNSTONE:

Bobbie(on the telephone talking to Stefan’s answering machine)Stefan, this is Bobbie. I thought you should know Sonny and Carly have returned to Port Charles. I know I promised you that as soon as they came back I would tell Carly the truth, but something is going on. Carly’s doctor, Dr. Meadow’s asked them to return to Port Charles so there’s must be something wrong. So I’m asking you to let me postpone telling Carly that you’re her father. Goodbye. (she hangs up the phone. Suddenly, she feels the hairs of her neck standing on end and gets the creepy feeling someone is standing behind her watching her. She turns around and screams)Chloe, what are you doing here? How did you get in here? (Helena wearing her Chloe Mask starts walking towards Bobbie in a menacing way)Chloe, why won’t you say something. (Bobbie begins to back away from her)Chloe, what do you want from me.(Bobbie watches in horror as Chloe removes a dildo from her purse) Oh, my god, you’re the Sex Toy Stalker!(Chloe traps Bobbie a corner of her bedroom as she raises the dildo, preparing to ram it down Bobbie’s throat.)
