CHAPTER FIFTY

CHAPEL, QUEEN OF ANGEL’S CHURCH:

Helena(and Andreas enter and take a seat at the back of the church)We’ve arrived just in time. The festivities haven’t even begun, yet.

Andreas(motions to the pews across from them)And there is Ms. Carson. How do you suggest we lure her out of the chapel, Madam.

Helena: Do hookers carry cell phones? It seems like everyone else does these days. If she does, we’ll just call her up and lure her outside.

Andreas: Madam, you don’t carry a cell phone.

Helena: That’s because I’m unique. I walk to the beat of a different drummer. I don’t go with the crowd. I go my own way. Besides, I have people like you to carry cell phones for me, Andreas. (she notices Chloe coming up to Tammy)Oh, look, there’s that annoying Chloe Morgan.

Andreas: I wonder what she wants with Ms. Carson.

Stefan(enters the church and comes up to Helena)Mother, what are you doing here?

Chloe(slides in the seat next to Tammy)Tammy, thank goodness I finally found you. I’ve been looking everywhere for you.

Tammy: Chloe, shouldn’t you be back with Carly in the bride’s room getting ready for the wedding. You are in the wedding party, after all.

Stefan: Mother, you didn’t answer me. What are you doing here?

Helena: I might ask you the same thing. Just what are you doing here.

Stefan: It’s none of your business.

Helena: Well, then, you have my answer to your question.

Stefan: I suppose you’ve heard. Emily Quartermaine wasn’t a match to donate a kidney to me. You disrupted her life all for nothing.

Helena: It was worth a shot. It seemed likely she’d be a suitable organ donor for you.

Stefan: So what do you plan to do with her now?

Helena: Why nothing. Her only use to me was as a kidney donor for you. Now that she’s proven unsuitable I have no further use of her. As far as I’m concerned, she can go back to her own little life and forgot all about being a Cassadine.

Stefan: I’d say that would be a little hard for her to do after you destroyed everything she believed was true about herself all to get what you wanted. Mother, you are amoral.

Helena: Watch it, Stefan. Don’t forget, you spring from my loins. What you say about me, you say about yourself.

Stefan: I’m nothing like you.

Helena:(smiled)You’d like to believe that, wouldn’t you? But deep down we both know otherwise, don’t we, Stefan. Deep down we both know you and I are just alike.(she watches him stomp away and turns her attention back to Tammy and Chloe)God, I thought he’d never leave.

Chloe: Tammy, I really need to speak to you. It’s a matter of life and death.

Tammy: What is it?

Chloe: Not here. I need to speak to you in private. Will you come outside with me for a moment?

Helena(smirks as she watches Tammy and Chloe leave the chapel)Well, would you look at that, Andreas. Little Chloe Morgan is doing our dirty work for us. She’s acting as our unknowing accomplice.

Stefan(as Alexis slides into the seat next to him)Alexis, what are you doing here?

Alexis: Making sure you don’t do something you’ll regret like demanding to march the bride down the aisle or something.

Stefan: Did you notice Mother and Andreas over there? I wonder what they’re doing here? It can’t be anything good.

Alexis(watches as Helena and Andreas leave the chapel)Well, they’re leaving now so you can‘t stop worrying about them.

BRIDE’S ROOM:

Bobbie(is helping Carly get ready)Carly, do you ever wonder who your father is?

Carly(gives her a strange look)Why would you bring something like that up now. Bobbie, you told me you didn’t know who my father is and I’ve tried to put all thoughts of my real father out of my mind.

Bobbie: It’s just that every girl dreams of the day she’ll walk down the aisle on the arm of her father as she marries the man of her dreams.

Carly: Not this girl. Besides, who says I’m marrying the man of my dreams. Love has nothing to do with Sonny and I. We’re just marrying because...

Bobbie: Yes, because of what? Carly, give it up. The only one you’re fooling is yourself.

Carly: What is that supposed to mean.

Bobbie: It’s obvious to anyone that you’re in love with Sonny and he’s in love with you. You’re both just too stubborn to admit it. Right?

Carly(sighs deeply as she gives up the fight)All right, yes, I’m in love with Sonny, but if you tell him I‘ll kill you. It took me a long time to figure out what I was feeling for him because it was so different from what I’ve felt for other men. With Tony and Jason I had to fight to make them love me, but with Sonny it just happened. But you’re wrong about Sonny loving me.

Bobbie: Why do you say that?

Carly: Because the HIV Poster Girl accused Sonny of being in love with me and when I confronted him about it he said he didn’t.

Bobbie: Well, that’s because he’s waiting for you to tell him you’re in love with him. Don’t forget you’re the one who kept shoving your love for Jason in his face when you two first got together.

Carly: Well, he’s going to be waiting a long time, then, because I’m not going to be the first one to say I love you. I’m not going to tell him how I feel about him until he tells me first. I’m not going to say the worlds until he says them to me first.

Bobbie(rolls her eyes)Carly!

Carly: Look, Bobbie, do you know how many times I said those words to Jason, to have them thrown right back in my face. I couldn’t handle it if I told Sonny I love him and he didn’t say he loves me back.

Bobbie: What if you both keep waiting for the other to say I love you first and you never say those words to each other.

Carly: Then I guess they’ll never get said, will they.
