CHAPTER ELEVEN
THE PARK:
Sonny(hands Carly an ice cream cone and sits down next to her on the bench)Are you feeling better now?
Carly: I was doing good, today, then I turned around and he was standing there.
Sonny: Just what did he say to you.
Carly: Just more of what he said to you. How it was for the best that he killed our baby. The best for him, that is. He’s already got the whole thing rationalized in his mind. That it all happened so he could get everything back that he’s lost. Never mind the very last thing I’d ever want would be to be stuck being married to him, again, and having to live with him and his loony family. He was even telling me this time around I’d better treat him right or he’d withdraw the offer he made to me.
Sonny: That drunk is totally whacked.
Carly: Sonny, tell me you’re not going to let him get away with what he’s done. We’re suffering the loss of our child, he should have to suffer, too. He got away with brain damaging Jason. Please don’t tell me you’re going to let him get away with costing us our child.
Sonny: I have no intention of letting him get away with this. I intend to make sure he pays.
Carly: Then why don’t you do something about him.
Sonny: Because if I do anything right now the police will know I did it and I’m not going down because of that lush. As soon as everything dies down and everyone is sure I’m not going to do anything to him, that’s when I will. I learned that from watcing the Cassadines in action with Luke and Laura. They waited nearly two decades to have their revenge. I can wait a few months to have mine.
Carly: Will you kill him?
Sonny: No, I can’t because he’s Michael’s father and I’d never be able to look Michael in the face again, if I did.
Carly: Then what will you do.
Sonny: I’ll break him. You know, I’ve found from experience that death is easy. But having to live with what you are is far worse. You want to be there with me when I do it.
Carly: Yes. (she looked away from him)AJ seems to think that now that baby’s gone, you’ll have no further use for me. That I’m lucky he’s willing to take me back and give me another chance with him.
Sonny(took her face in his hands and made her look back at him)But we both know that’s not true, don’t we? If that were true, I wouldn’t have had you move into my bedroom with me, would I?(then he lowered his mouth to hers and kissed her)
KELLY’S DINER:
Helena(entered and looked around, pleased to see the place was empty. Then she walked over to the counter)Hello, Ms. Carson.
Tammy(looked up from cleaning the counter)Do I know you?
Helena: No, we’ve never met before, but I know all about you. I’m Helena Cassadine.
Tammy(was immediately on her guard)I’ve heard all about you. What do you want from me?
Helena: I know you once had a relationship with my son, Stavros. I also know you had a child by Stavros. A child you gave up for adoption after his death.
Tammy: I asked you before what you wanted from me?
Helena: I’ve decided it’s time for you to reclaim your child.
Tammy: And what if I don’t agree with you.
Helena: Oh, I’m sure I can convince you otherwise. In fact, I know it.
THE COFFEE WAREHOUSE:
Sonny(and Carly return walking hand-in-hand)So, are you ready for that tour of the warehouse.
Carly: Let’s do it.
Sonny: Okay, you see those crates over there.
Carly: Yes, what about them.
Sonny: They contain the new shipment of coffee beans that just came in this morning.
Carly: No, really? Sonny, I already figured that out. I also figured that those crates over there were originally on a little boat that sailed into the harbor where big, muscular men who work for you in this warehouse unloaded them from. And you see that big thingy over there that the men are using to lift the crates. That’s called a fork-lift. I bet that’s what the men used to unload the crates from the ship. It took you reading that book in your office to learn all this. How about showing me something I can’t figure out for myself.
Sonny: Oh, you think you’re so cute, don’t you.
Carly: Sonny, just because I’m blond, doesn’t mean I’m dumb. Tell me something I don’t know.
Roy(comes running in the warehouse)Thank god, I found you.
Carly: What do you want? I told you if you have a problem from now on, go to Luke.
Roy: We’ve all got a problem. Larken escaped from the prison van as they were transporting him to the federal pen.
