CHAPTER THREE

SONNY’S ROOM, GENERAL HOSPITAL:

Jax(enters)I heard you had a close call, Corinthos. How are you feeling.

Sonny: Why, Jax, I didn’t know you cared.

Jax: I don’t.

Sonny: What do you want from me, this time.

Jax: What makes you think I want something from you.

Sonny: Because the only time you ever have a use for me, is when you want something from me.

Jax: Well, this time is different. In fact, it’s me who is going to do something for you. Actually, I’m going to do a couple of things for you as it turns out.

Sonny: This should be good.

Jax: What has the one thing you’ve been wishing for from me from the moment I first came to town.

Sonny: That you’d leave.

Jax: Consider me your own personal genie. Your wish has just been granted.

Sonny: You’re leaving Port Charles? Why?

Jax: I never really intended to stay this long. I only came to takeover ELQ and since I’ve finally succeeded, I think it’s finally time for me to leave.

Sonny: Well, I won’t say I’m going to miss you, because I won’t. But you’ve been a worthy adversary.

Jax: You’ve challenged all the beliefs I held about myself, Corinthos. I can’t say I’m happy about that. You were my greatest rival. You’ve ripped the rug right out from under me several times. I can’t say I much enjoyed that. I much prefer being the one to rip the rug out from someone else’s feet. You forced me to face some ugly truths about my brother and my parents. And worst of all, you made me face the awful truth that deep down you and I aren’t all that different, after all.

Sonny: And for all that, what’s my reward going to be?

Jax; You’re being sarcastic, but there actually is a reward in it for you. You see, I find taking over ELQ isn’t enough revenge for me against the old man. So, I sat down and asked myself how I could really stick it to Edward. Selling his company would only be a momentary pleasure. But, you see, I want the old man to really suffer and then it finally came to me. (he takes a paper out of his pocket and hands it to Sonny)Congratulations, Corinthos, you know own ELQ International lock, stock and barrel.

Sonny: You can’t do this to me!

Jax: I just did.

Sonny: It can’t be legal. Don’t I have to sign something.

Jax: You already did, although you didn’t know it at the time. When you signed over your stock to me, I had you sign a paper that transferred ownership of ELQ over to you. Even then I was planning this.

Sonny: Do you have any idea what the Quartermaines are going to do when they find out about this.

Jax: (smiled)Try and take it away from you by any means possible would be my guess.

Sonny: Why you miserable...

Jax: You didn’t really think I was going to thank you for all you did for me while I’ve been in this miserable town, did you. At least, I left you all something to remember me by. Better get what rest you can while you can, Corinthos, because as soon as the Q’s find out their going to be circling over your head like a pack of hungry vultures just waiting to pick your bones clean. Have a nice life, Corinthos. I‘ll be thinking of you every time a pack of man-eating sharks go on a feeding frenzy.(with that Jax sailed out of the room and out of Port Charles for good)

STEFAN’S DEN, WYNDEMERE:

Stefan(as Alexis enters)Come over and look at these pictures with me, Alexis.

Alexis: Oh, those are the pictures we took before you, me and Stavros went sailing on the Aegean Sea. I thought the past was something you chose to forget. Why so Maudlin, Stefan?

Stefan: Remember what happened while the three of us were out sailing.

Alexis: How could I forget. That was the day I realized just how much Stavros truly hated you.

Stefan: If it wasn’t for you, Alexis, I would have died that day. But as it turns out, Stavros may end up having the last laugh, after all.

Alexis: Stefan, what are you talking about?

Stefan: I went to see a doctor, today. There may be something wrong with one of my kidney’s and the doctor said it could be because of what Stavros did to me that day.

Alexis: Stefan, are they sure?

Stefan: They won’t be until the tests come back.

Alexis: Well then, maybe there’s nothing wrong, after all.

Stefan(gave her a look)Alexis, I’m very in tune with my body. I don’t need a doctor to tell me there’s something wrong with me.

Alexis: Well, if worse comes to worse, I’ll just give you one of my kidney’s. Maybe this is the reason why we discovered were brother and sister. Don’t worry, Stefan, I saved you from Stavros once and if necessary I’ll do it, again.

Stefan(took her hand in his and kissed it)What would I ever do without you, Alexis.

Alexis: Well, you’ll never have to find out, will you?

SONNY’S PENTHOUSE:

Carly(smiled as Lila entered)Lila, what are you doing here?

Lila: I just wanted to check in on you and see how you are.

Carly: Some days are better than others.

Lila: I heard about Mr. Corinthos. Is he all right.

Carly: I’m going to leave in a few minutes to go and pick him up.

Lila: How are things going between the two of you.

Carly: I’m not really sure. Before the baby...we were really growing close. You know that, I told you all about it. But since the baby’s been gone things have really been strained and distant between us. Last night at the hospital Sonny told me he thought I didn’t want Sonny, Michael and I to be a family anymore. He heard me say to Michael it’s just the two of us from now on and he misunderstood.

Lila: Do you? Do you still want to be a family with Mr. Corinthos?

Carly: I’m not sure, but from what Sonny said, I think he does. He also told me he never really loved Hannah. When I heard he risked his life to save hers I was afraid he was still in love with her and wanted her back now the baby was gone, but he doesn’t.

Lila: You still haven’t answered my question. Do you want a future with Mr. Corinthos?

Carly: I don’t honestly know. Before the baby died Sonny and I were starting to build something together. It was some thing I liked a lot. Michael, Sonny and I were happy. Sonny and I even became lovers. The first time Sonny made love to me almost felt like the first time I’d ever really been made love to by a man. All the other times I was with a man, even the times with Jason, seemed like just sex when compared to what I shared with Sonny. But the thing that bound us together was the baby and now he’s gone. I just don’t know if we can get back to the point we were at before the baby died and I don‘t know if what we started to build together is strong enough to survive without the baby to hold us together.
