CHAPTER FOUR

SONNY’S ROOM, GENERAL HOSPITAL:

Carly(enters and finds the room empty. She turned around and headed to the nurse’s station where she found Amy)Do you know where Sonny is? I went into his room and he was gone.

Amy: He’s gone.

Carly: Duh, Amy, that’s what I just said. I was supposed to come and take Sonny home. Did something go wrong. Did Sonny develop complications or something.

Amy: No, I guess you forgot to tell Sonny you were coming to pick him up, because he checked himself out of the hospital a half hour ago.

Carly: He did what! He just was shot. He had no business leaving here on his own. How could you people allow him to leave on his own. If anything happens to him, I’m going to sue the pants off this hospital.

Amy: Did I say Sonny left here, alone. Roy DeLucca came and picked him up.

Carly: Roy DeLucca? He almost got Sonny killed, last night. Maybe he can finish off the job, today. You people my as well have let Sorel take Sonny for a ride for as safe as he’ll be alone with Roy DeLucca.(she marched over to the elevator and began jabbing the call button)

SONNY’S PENTHOUSE:

Sonny(as he entered)Carly? I’m home.

Roy(closed the door behind them)Does Carly know you called me to bring you home from the hospital?

Sonny: No, why do you ask?

Roy: Because if she finds out, I don’t think she’ll be too thrilled. At the hospital last night she pretty much ordered me to stay away from you. She didn’t like me putting you in danger.

Sonny:(smiled in pleasure)She did?

Roy: That pleases you?

Sonny: Yeah, it does. It’s nice to know she still cares what happens to me even though she’s not going to have my baby, anymore. No one has ever been as protective of me as Carly is. She’s even taken on her mother and Luke when they attacked me. And she’s not doing it to impress me or to try and score points with me. She just instinctively defends me when she sees someone attacking me. The first few times Carly did that, I didn’t know how to react and I got all mad and told her to stay out of my business. Not that it did any good, because she kept on doing it. But now that I’ve gotten used to it, I like it. It’s kind of funny. When I was a kid, I used to wish someone would defend me the way Carly does.

Roy: Now that the baby’s gone, what do you think is going to happen between the two of you.

Sonny: I don’t know.

Roy: What do you want to happen.

Sonny(laughed) I don’t know. I do know I don’t want things to go back to the way they were before Carly came here. Before Carly and Michael came to live here, I used to hate coming home to this empty apartment. But with Carly living here I now have something to look forward to when I come home. Carly has brought this place alive in a way Brenda and Lily never did. She’s completely taken the place over. Everywhere you look, there’s something that says, “Carly lives here.” Every time I sit down on this couch, I usually end up getting poked in the rear end by one of Carly’s barrettes. And the weird thing is I like it.

Roy: It sounds like Carly has done a lot more than take over your apartment. Just what do you feel for her?

Sonny: I don’t honestly know. I don’t think I’ve known from the moment I met her. Even when I hated her for what she did to Jason and Robin, when we were fighting I’d always bring sex into the argument and suggest we go upstairs and do it. Do you want to have sex with someone your truly hate? I still don’t know why I slept with Carly that first time. Roy, I never betrayed anyone in my life until the night I slept with Carly. And it wasn’t just sleeping with Carly. I purposely wanted Jason to find out Carly and I had been together. I could have made sure Jason never found out what happened between Carly and I, but instead I just sat on this couch when he arrived and waited for it to happen. I could have gotten him out of the apartment before he discovered what happened, but I wanted him to know. And for the life of me, I still don’t understand why.

Roy: It sounds like you wanted to make sure nothing would ever happen between Jason and Carly. I’ve heard all about Jason and Carly. That Carly wanted Jason and she was bound and determined to have him. That she tried everything she could think of to get him, and that it looked like it was finally starting to work. Then you did what you did and made sure it would never happen, and didn’t care if it cost you the best friend you ever had in the process.

Sonny: What are you saying, Roy? That I did what I did to make sure I’d have Carly all to myself.

Roy: I can answer that, only you can. But it does give you something to think about, doesn’t it. With that thought, I think I’ll leave. I don’t think I want to be here when Carly gets home.

TONY’S OFFICE, GENERAL HOSPITAL:

Bobbie(entered)Tony, I need to talk to you. What have you done to turn Lucas against me.

Tony: I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Bobbie: When I went over to your place to pick up Lucas, he told me he didn’t want to go home with me. He said he wants to live with you from now on.

Tony: Bobbie, can you blame him. You haven’t exactly been an attentive mother to Lucas since Roy DeLucca came back to town.

Bobbie; That’s not true. I’m really getting sick of you and Carly singing the same song.

Tony: Has Carly said something similar to you?

Bobbie: She said I’m never around when she needs me.

Tony: Far be it from me to agree with anything Carly says, but in this case she’s right. You’ve been a space cadet ever since Roy DeLucca hit town. You haven’t just been neglecting your children for Roy Delucca, you’ve been neglecting your job, as well.

Bobbie: Just what is that supposed to mean.

Tony: Stefan Cassadine has been making noises about your frequent absences.

Bobbie: Are you saying Stefan is trying to get me fired.

Tony: In a word, yes. At a recent board meeting he said since you seem to prefer slinging hash at Kelly’s Diner over your nursing duties, maybe you should take up a permanent position at Kelly’s Diner and make room for a nurse who will give her all to the hospital.

Bobbie: How dare he!

Tony: Be thankful you’ve got a lot of friends on the board or you’d be cleaning out your locker as we speak. But if you don’t get your act together soon, Bobbie, next time Stefan may succeed in getting you fired. (his beeper suddenly goes off) You’ll have to excuse me while I go to answer this.

Bobbie(as Tony walks out of his office)Tony, when you get back you and I have to discuss what we’re going to do about Lucas. Now that I’m back, I want my son living with me at the brownstone.

Tony: That may not be as easy as it sounds. For one thing, Lucas dislikes Roy DeLucca and with him living with you at the brownstone that’s one of the main reasons he wants to live with me, instead.

Bobbie; How could Lucas hate Roy. He doesn’t even know him.

Tony: What Lucas knows is that when Roy DeLucca arrived Jerry left and you began ignoring him and in his mind it’s Roy DeLucca’s fault.(with that he exited the office)

Bobbie(began to aimlessly roam Tony’s office as she waited for him to return. Suddenly, a medical file laying on Tony’s desk caught her eye. It belonged to Stefan. Feeling very malicious about Stefan at the moment, she decided to snoop through it. But what she found inside was her worst nightmare come to life. She dropped it back down on the desk and sat numbly down in Tony’s chair.)No, this can’t be happening to me. Not now after all this time.
