What’s Love Got To Do With It?

If you’re talking about Sonny and Carly, then the answer is quite a bit. On Friday, August 11, Sonny declared to Alexis he’s been in love and it doesn’t work for him. It messes with the way he thinks. And that what he and Carly have is better. They have a child they love and get along. Sonny could have been chanting a few verses from Tina Turn’s “What’s Love Got To Do With It”.

Here’s a few of the verses that come to mind when I think of Sonny and his belief that he doesn’t love Carly:

That’s not a direct quote, but it’s pretty close. You get the general idea. Like in the song, Sonny is trying to justify everything he feels for Carly as not being love. But if he doesn’t love her then why is he so determined that she and Michael move back in with him. Why did he come back and apologize to her after all the terrible things he said to her? Sonny doesn’t apologize. If he doesn’t love Carly, then why does being with her make him happy. Why does he smile when he sees her come into a room.

The answer is quite simple. Michael Corinthos Jr. is in love with Caroline Benson, he’s just doesn’t realize it, yet. But then he’s been deep in denial since that night in November when he had furniture breaking sex with Carly. To my knowledge he still doesn’t understand just why he slept with Carly that night. He said it wasn’t because of Jason or Hannah, but he never could figure out just why he did make love with Carly that night.

Sonny cavalierly declared that neither he nor Carly would get hurt because their hearts weren’t involved. Something tells me in the very near future Sonny’s going to have cause to eat his words big-time when he discovers much to his horror that Carly has his heart and she could break it if she’s starts pursuing Jason Morgan again when he returns to town in two weeks time. The six weeks that Jason is in town is going to be very rough on Sonny as he forced to finally face what his true feelings for Carly really are.
