The Games That People Play
The week started out with Sonny apologizing to Carly for the nasty things he said to her, last Friday. As apologies go, it was pretty bad. But the important part was that after Sonny said the things he did, he turned around, came back and apologized. Of course, after that it was back to fun and games Sonny and Carly style.
Sonny walked Carly home to the Brownstone and she told him Bobbie wanted her out so she could have a non-stop horizontal boogie session with Roy. Sonny suggested Carly could move back into the penthouse with him, but because he wouldn’t say he wanted her to move back in, Carly announced she would move into Jason’s old apartment, instead. Which lobbed the ball firmly into Sonny’s court.
Taking care of Michael for the day, Sonny confided he thought the three of them [him, Michael and Carly] fit good together and he would find a way to get Carly and Michael back into his penthouse. Enter Alexis whose looking for an apartment, so Sonny decides to rent her Jason’s old penthouse. Afterwards Sonny tells Baby Michael that if you want someone to do what you want them to do you take away all their options. Sonny was feeling proud as a peacock over the scam he pulled.
Enter Carly who went ballistic when she found out what he did and called him on it. She then declared she would never move back into his penthouse with him. She’d rather live in a homeless shelter. A furthermore she’d had enough of his face for one day and didn’t want to see anymore. Sonny yelled back that she didn’t have to worry about that, because he was heading to Luke’s Club.
So what happens a few minutes after Sonny enters the club? Carly enters and begins flirting with Roy to try and make Sonny jealous. Sonny seems to know what she’s doing and isn’t bothered at all about it. Of course, if they would just be honest with each other none of these games would be necessary.
Carly won’t tell Sonny how she feels because she thinks he thinks of her as nothing but an obligation and she wants Sonny to want her not to feel he’s obligated because of a promise he made to Jason to take care of her. As for Sonny, after all the times Carly as thrown the sainted Jason in his face, he’s not about to open himself up and confess his true feelings for her at the risk of being rejected. So he’ll continue to plot and scheme to get what he wants so he won’t put himself emotionally at risk.
At the moment, Sonny and Carly are like a couple of demolition derby drivers driving their cars towards each other at a break-neck speed. It remains to see which one will say chicken first and admit their true feelings for each other. If Sonny and Carly did things the easy way, I guess they wouldn’t be as much fun to watch.
