AN EAVESDROPPER NEVER HEARS ANY GOOD

When Carly made it clear that she didn't want to leave just yet, Sonny agreed they could stay a little while longer. Realizing it would soon be the Fourth of July, Sonny and Carly shared Fourth of July memories with each other of how they spent the holiday as children. Later that night they spent time together stargazing and ended their evening together with a walk on the beach.

The next day after spending a fun day together, Benny arrived and threw a wet blanket on things by insisting Sonny return to PC, throwing in his face his bad choices where women are concerned. As Carly is proned to do, she started eavesdropping on Benny and Sonny and heard Benny asking Sonny if he was going to shackle himself to a woman he doesn't love and Sonny saying he promised to look after Carly and Michael. From that a disappointed Carly came to the conclusion Sonny doesn't love her and she later told Michael it was time for them to let Uncle Sonny go.

Carly gives Sonny what she thinks may be their last kiss.

Sonny and Carly spent their last day together on the beach. While Sonny was out swimming, Carly got concerned when she couldn't see him and thought he might be in danger. She rushed into the water after him, and Sonny had to end up saving her. Sonny told her she shouldn't have put herself at risk for him, and she said she has to do something when she someone she cares about in danger. That's just who she is. When they returned to the cabana, Sonny suggested they stay longer, but Carly said it was time for them to go home. The island wasn't real, it was just a fantasy. Thinking she might never kiss Sonny, again, she gave him one last passionate kiss.

The next day they got home. Carly was misty as she watched the close relationship Sonny and Michael share. Then she finally dropped her bomb on Sonny. She told Sonny she thinks it would be for the best if she and Michael moved out.
