"A Sister for Caleb"

 Caleb, home from Russia.

We strongly felt after Caleb's adoption that God would give us another child close to his age -- someone for him to grow up with since there are ten years between Caleb and Joanna.

In March, the Lord brought a small girl to our attention in Pune, India.  Her East Indian name is Madhura (meaning sugar or sweet.)  Madhura is in orphanage care, and she was two years old on April 14th of 2000.  In June of 1999 she had surgery and both her eyeballs were removed.  She had bilateral retinoblastoma, a form of cancer, but received her last follow up with the doctors in the spring.  After radiotherapy, she is now free of cancer.  Since we have another daughter (Joanna who will be 13 on December 4, 2000) who is blind and since we are equipped to love and help another child who is blind, we believe it is the will of God that we adopt Madhura.

"Madhura," our "Carlee," in India

In April 2000 we settled on a new name for Madhura.  Her name will be Caroline Elizabeth McCauley but we will call her Carlee.  Caroline means, "little and womanly."  Carlee, a nickname for Caroline, in the Old French means, "song of joy."  As we were praying God gave us a wonderful passage of scripture that will be Carlee's verses.  They are found in Isaiah 29:17-19:  "Is it not yet a very little while till Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field?  And the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest?  In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book.  And the BLIND shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.  The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel."  We believe that Carlee is a fruitful field.  God will not be obscure to her and she won't walk in darkness forever.  She is chosen of Him and we rejoice.

We SEE Carlee's potential through the eyes of our faith.
