Main Fields of Activity

Extension:

Dairy cattle nutrition feeding & management : courses, lectures and symposia, consulting, field trials, publications and recommendations.

Research:

The utilization of lignocelluloses and industrial by-products for feeding.

The utilization of recycled water (both salty and sewage water) for high quality forage production.

Effect of CW composition of forages and by-products, on digestibility and milk production.

Mineral nutrition of dairy cows.

Increasing the CLA content of milk by nutritional means in the Israeli dairy.

Current Running Projects:

Irrigation of forage crops by municipal and agriculture effluent; ecological and nutritional aspects (2000-2002).

Feeding dairy cows with high level of primary cell wall rich feeds (1999-2001).

Increasing the concentration of Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) in the milk of dairy cows in Israel (2000-2002).

Updating the Israeli atlas of "Mineral Composition of Ruminants Feeds" (1998-2000).
