This page will draw a different Julia set for each day of the month! Julia sets are obtained from the equation: znew = z2 + c where both z and c are complex, and c is, additionally, a constant. To plot the curve, a stable point (one which maps onto itself) is found first. Then more points can be derived iteratively. Two solutions are derived from each equation, and one of them should be chosen at random, at the very least. However, it is better to trace both roots. Eventually,A Julia Set Applet
Values of 'c' too close or far away from zero will converge to a unit circle and a couple of points, respectively- and will not make for attractive graphics. Monochrome displays are quite appropriate, since a point either belongs to the set, or it doesn't.
Watch out for some Mandelbrot enlargements in a few months time!
The symmetry section now hosts 12 different images!
