Max Nominated for Golden Saturn Award
Max has been nominated by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films in the category of Best Supporting Actor for Minority Report. He is up against Toby Stephens (Die Another Day), Robin Williams (Insomnia), Andy Serkis (The Two Towers), Ralph Fiennes (Red Dragon) and Tom Hardy (Star Trek: Nemesis). The cermony will be held on the 18th of May in Los Angeles. Check out the Awards' official site here.
AND THE WINNER IS....

Andy Serkis, for his (voice) role as Golum in 'Lord of the Rings'.

Well, to those who know about such things, the fact that Max didn't win the award really comes as no suprise. America tends not to be so generous when it comes to the Great One from Sweden. Max has previously been nominated for an Oscar and two Golden Globes, but hasn't won either award. In Europe, however, he wins every award he is nominated for.

His performance as Lamar Burgess was, as always, exemplary. He gave it his all, even against the beautiful young things Morton, Cruise and Farrell. But, to this film-goers mind, if he can't get a nod for his exceptional performance in 'Snow Falling on Cedars' (though CNN were happy to corner him for an interview when they sensed, quite rightly, an Oscar nomination), then an acolade for such a big-budget American flick is unlikely, even with the master Speilberg at the helm.

Never mind, I am quite sure Max doesn't care --- perhaps because he was in Cannes on the night of the awards.
