Disclaimer: Not mine, don't sue. I don't have anything
you want anyway.
Rating: PG
Category: Max and Liz, Liz's POV - Alternative Universe
Summary: Eight years after, companion piece to
Kindness of a Stranger
Feedback: Yeah! I would love it! Please don't flame
though, I'm fragile.
Comments: Due to popular demand, this is a sequel to
my fic "Kindness of a Stranger". If you don't read
that first, you are going to be totally lost. This
fic is set 8 years after the previous. By the way,
the title sucks, and I'm sorry!
Author's Note: The lyrics are "I Knew I Loved You" by
Savage Garden - the boys who are still proud to call
Australia home.
I Knew I Loved You
By Savage Garden
Maybe its intuition
But some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes
I see my future in an instant
And there it goes
I think I found my best friend
I know that might sound more than a little crazy
But I believe...
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
There's just no rhyme or reason
Only this sense of completion
And in your eyes
I see the missing pieces
I'm searching for
I think I have found my way home
I know that may sound more than a little crazy
but I believe...
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I have found you
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
A lot has changed over the years.since that night and
the beginning of her new life, her new beginning.
From the point when she had been reborn and created a
new person, a new Liz.
She lay on the soft, green grass and greeted the sun
with a smile, still innocent, still eager, tipping her
head back and displaying her scar for the world to
see.
"Take me as I am and don't expect me to change," it
seemed to say, denying the world which seeks
perfection where there was none.least of all in her.
But in herself, while not perfect, beat a heart that
was all too human, capable of love and hate, joy and
sadness, a heart that has known heartbreak and came
out stronger for it.
With the help of a stranger..
She still thought of him often and always with a
loving smile on her face. She had fallen in love with
him so easily, finding a connection borne between
mates of the soul, the one thing that was truly
herself. A connection borne of pain and suffering,
tears and heartbreak. A connection of understanding
and compassion.
Her connection with him was stronger than she had ever
thought possible, stronger than she had ever felt. In
a world where imperfections were emphasised to the
extreme, and life was dreaded and anticipated at the
same time.he had taught her that imperfections were,
in a way, perfections in themselves.
He taught her to believe in herself, trust in herself
and she did - so easily. It was all because of him,
his strength, his soul which irrevocably cried out for
hers.
Two wanderers combined that night, making one whole.
But, still, those same two wanderers had parted ways.
She didn't regret that, their ending, their finale.
It was bound to happen and, yet, in those few moments
they were together, they reveled in their oneness.
Joy and heartbreak mingled as one as they said their
goodbyes and stepped into the unknown.
No longer wanderers, no longer lost, they were Max,
they were Liz. They were found. They had said
goodbye to their former selves, the part that was
lonely, was afraid and came out as different people,
fearless and content with their choices, their lives.
But still together, still connected - their souls not
bound by endings and sadness this time. No, their
souls were connected through beginnings and happiness.
They still were.
Liz heard a childish giggle and turned to watch her
husband walk out of the back door and into the garden,
carrying their pride and joy.their five year old
daughter.
Liz smiled and wished her old life and her stranger a
true goodbye.
She didn't need the memories any more, their weight
was no longer felt. Hurts were forgotten, regrets no
longer and pain was displaced to be replaced by
contentment and love.
Her life was now, with her soulmate and her family.
Everything else was forgotten, the past.
Imperfection bred to perfection.
Liz Evans wouldn't have it any other way.
