Light on the 23rd Psalm
Before reading this psalm again, let me
share some information with you.
First, something about sheep...they learn the
sound of their shepherd's voice and will not
follow anyone else.
The shepherd knows his sheep and calls them
by name. He knows which ones are leaders
and he knows to protect them from their
natural enemies. To name a few enemies: wild dogs
wolves, snakes not forgetting to mention bad people.
The shepherd has a rod to use for fighting off enemies
and correcting wayward sheep. He also has a staff. The
staff has been used for pulling back sheep going off in
another direction, possibly pulling a lamb back from
a cliff edge, it is a mark of the shepherd's trade.
The shepherd leads his sheep into areas where they can
have better pasture and fresh water to drink. Sheep are
scared of running water which makes alot of sound, so
the shepherd takes them to fresh ponds, rivers or streams.
The shepherd puts oil on the sheep's head to help keep
pest away and it has healing properties.
A shepherd leads his sheep in pastures always watching for
snake holes or other dangers. At night, he leads them to
the fold which is enclosed totally except for the door.
The shepherd stays by the door at night watching so that
his sheep are safe and that nothing else can enter.
The sheep know his presence and are calm and peaceful
they fear nothing because they know that He is watching
over them and nothing can harm them.
I have heard that the shepherd has special treats for
those that follow closest to him. He might carry special
food items next to Him and the reason is
to keep the leader sheep close to Him.
This of course works. I wish I could
remember what those treats are but my memory fails me.
Perhaps you can liken the treats to the "Fruits of the Spirit."

Now, if you will, read with me again the 23rd psalm after
learning this information and see if it doesn't touch your heart.
The 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he
leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths
of righteoousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou
art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my
enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup
runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days
of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

I want to share these verses from the book of
John Chap.10
Verily, Verily, I say unto you, I AM the door of the
sheep.
All that ever came before (me), are thieves, and
robbers; but the sheep did not hear them.
I am the Good Shepherd; the good shepherd
giveth his life for the sheep.
My site is named for my Shepherd, for
His Lamb AM I.

I belong to several Christian groups and invite you to visit
and see if you don't belong with us. I want to thank a young
prayer warrior for helping me with the graphics to this page.
Shawna is very talented and although I didn't use all of her
graphics, I combined hers with mine. She also made my prayer
bear and certificate for you to take with you and to link to
my site. I am not worried about people that steal. What I do
I do as unto the Lord and He's the one that matters to me.
I know that He is going to take care of this Lamb and anyone
that would come to harm or create evil, will be put in their
place by Him. So feel free to take my bear and certificate and
share Jesus whenever and wherever you can.
