![]() ![]() ![]() The camp was to enable the scouts/explorers to meet various challenges. To camp during the month of January as part of the Dragon Award, the correct use of a bow-saw, the collection of natural wood to both start and maintain an open fire for cooking on, to light the fire without the use of matches or lighters, and to build a flagpole that was free standing using a plan from a model previously designed and built during a scout meeting. Everyone worked hard at the challenges and were successful in completing them. No one even complained about how cold it was !!! Cooking Sunday mornings breakfast proved a challenge in its own right, as the gas cylinders felt the cold more than the scouts ! Sheila as usual had a novel solution. She calmly thawed them out under her sweater.(she's currently taking orders from the local farming community, hatching out eggs when their incubators fail ) ![]() |
