The History of the Winking Buddha

One afternoon I was surfing away when my pager went off. I had just stumbled upon a very nice picture of a golden Buddha statue. I disconnected from the network and returned the call, leaving the golden Buddha on the screen. While waiting on hold, I suddenly noticed the Buddha wink at me! I dropped the phone and quick as a flash, grabbed my mouse, right clicked on Him and saved Him to my hard-drive.

After the phone call, I had to shut off the computer and go out; and promptly forgot about the Winking Buddha image. But that evening, I was visiting friends and remembered. I convinced them to turn on their computer and quickly surfed my way back to the site of the golden Buddha. But much to my embarrassment, the Buddha image no longer winked!

When I got home, I immediately flipped on my computer and brought up the image I had captured. And it winked at me again. So I emailed the image to my friends. But after I attached the image to the email, it no longer would wink! I phoned my friends, they retrieved their email and sure enough the Buddha winked at them! This was getting downright "Twilight Zone".

We fooled around for several days before stumbling on a way to prevent the winking from disappearing whenever the image was copied. That was yesterday and today we have built this Shrine of the Winking Buddha so that it may be of benefit for the Liberation of all beings!
