Haggai, also known as Aggeus, was tenth among the minor prophets, but first among the postexilic prophets. It is believed that he was born in Chaldea during the time of the Babylonian Captivity. There are only a few passages that mention Haggai, and the all talk about when he delivered a message in Jerusalem, this event took place around 520 B.C. or the second year of the reign of King Darius 1. He said that the Temple was a symbol of God's divine presence around them. The book of Haggai has reference to four accounts that Haggai delivered to the people. The first urges the people to begin work on the Temple. Three weeks later construction of the Temple was begun. The second came later that same month saying that the Temple would be "incomparably" glorious. The third occurance told the people that if the HOuse of God is not rebuilt their lives will be "tainted and blasted". His last prophesy was the same day as his third one, it said that a divine force will overthrow the heathen nations and that the house of David would be restored. Haggai is also credited falsely with the writing of Psalms 111 and 145.
