Brian and Madison were under a comfortable and Nick and Howie were sprawled out on he couch. AJ was sitting at the piano goofing off like he was Elton John. Everybody was howling at AJ’s antics. Kelly and Kevin stood in the doorway just laughing at their friends. AJ turned around, “Food!! I’m starved. I lot you two got lost or something.” AJ walked over to Kevin and took a both of chips from him. Kevin walked over and put the rest of the stuff on the table. Kelly put her stuff down too. “Okay y’all. Pig out. What doe everyone want to drink?” Madison called out first, “A beer.” Brian agreed with her as did AJ and Howie. Nick piped, “Soda for me please. One more year to go and then I definitely won’t have to say that anymore.” Kelly smiled, “And for you Kevin?” “Since Nick is our designated driver for the night, I guess I’ll relax you some tea and kaluha. It’ll make me relax.” Kelly turned and went to get the rest of the drinks. Madison kissed Brian and got out from under the comforter. “We’ll be right back men.” Once the girls were out of earshot, the guys started talking. “What a place, huh?” Howie said. AJ was sitting on the floor lying on his stomach. “Makes me wish I was a doctor.” Nick laughed, “You… a doctor. Yeah, right.” AJ argued, “Not a real doctor. I’d be like that Patch Adams doctor guy, just makin’ all the patients laugh.” Brian spoke up, “I’m glad you’re not though. I’d sure miss you. But anyways, I was thinking that we could do something nice for the girls before we leave Saturday morning. It’s kind of big and they’d have to know about it, but I’d think they’d like it.” Kevin asked, “What were you thinking of Bri?” “Well, since we have to go to the Christmas Bash Dance at MTV Studios, we might as well take them. Howie and Nick could take dates, and AJ, Amanda will be there anyways. It would work out perfectly. What do y’all say?” Nick said, “I like it, but I’m definitely going stag so I can pick up some hotties myself.” Brian got serious, “The only problem is that it’s televised and if people saw us, meaning all of us with dates, people could really start talking and I’m sure that the New York newspapers would recognize Madison, even Kelly for that matter. I’m sure Madison could handle it, but I’m not sure if Kelly has ever been in the spolight.” Kevin took over, “I think that we should make sure we can get them in first and then bring it up to them, but let’s mention it to them tonight to make sure they keep Friday night open.” The girls came in after that with the drinks. Madison gave Brian and Howie, and AJ their beers. Kelly gave Nick his soda. Madison sat back down under the comforter with Brian with her beer. She leaned over and whispered, “Bri, there’s something else that’s wrong. I guess on the front door there are marks that look like someone tried to break in. Kelly saw them and now she’s suspicious. I have to tell her about the phone guy from that guy. She has to know.” Brian looked worried, “Madison, I swear that no one will hurt you two. The cell phones are on and you call us the second anything happens. Okay?” Madison gave him a squeeze, “Thank you.” Kevin was sitting on the other loveseat with a black down comforter. He silently motioned for Kelly to sit next to him. She saw him and joined him on the couch. Everyone was comfortable and the room was cozy. For the next hour they all just chatted and drank. Everyone except Nick was pretty much drunk and anything anyone would say they would all burst out laughing. Thing calmed down a bit later and Kelly looked around the room. It was apparent that Madison and Brian were about to fall asleep. AJ was asleep on the floor. Nick and Howie were just chatting as they layed opposite of each other on the coach. Kelly had curled up to Kevin under the blanket. He had his hand on her leg and she had her arms wrapped up with his. They were holding hands, not saying anything. Brian got out of his doze and said, “I just happen to know that we have two very good piano players in this room and I think that they should play for us.” AJ woke up and agreed. Madison looked at Kelly from across the room and gave her the eye like she was saying, “Do it.” Kevin and Kelly looked at each other and got up from their couch. They both sat down on the piano bench. “What should we play?” Kevin though for a second, “The Heart and Soul duet of course.” Kelly said, “Good choice. You play the bottom and I’ll play the top.” The started off slowly and then picked up the pace. Everyone watched as the two played the song beautifully. Brian got up and got the rest of the guys up. They joined the other two around the piano. All of a sudden they all started singing to the song. Madison was on the floor laughing, because they were still sort of drunk and they were off the beat a bunch. Finally the song was over. AJ said, “Okay, Kevin play one song alone, and then Kelly and then we’re outta here. It’s almost one o’clock.” Kelly moved down to the floor so that Kevin could play better. Kevin started a beautiful song, and then winked at the guys. Brian helped Kelly and Madison off the floor and pulled them over to the piano with the rest of the guys. Kevin started playing again, and the boys were singing, again, this time though it was perfect. They sang Back To Your Heart, while Kevin played. It was even better than when they sang it in concert. Madison and Kelly snuggled together and smiled as they listened, but it was apparent that this song was for the two couples. Brian and Madison were staring at each other, and Kelly bravely, and rather drunkly, moved under Kevin’s arms and sat on his lap as he played and sang. It was over too soon though, and now it was Kelly’s turn. Everyone sat down to listen to her play. Kelly turned embarrassed, “I never play in front of people, so don’t laugh at me.” Everyone quieted down so that they could hear her play. She began to play a sad Beethoven piece. It was beautiful and mysterious. It seemed to last forever, but nobody cared. Kevin was staring at her when she was done. He began clapping as did the rest of the group. Kelly stood up from the piano and took a bow. She winked at Kevin, “Well, it’s getting late and you guys should get going. We’ll see each other soon.” All the guys got up and agreed. Madison and Kelly started cleaning up the pillows and blankets. The guys helped them and then went to the entryway and got their stuff on. It was snowing again and Kelly hoped that they would be okay. Howie and Nick and AJ went out to the car to warm it up while Brian and Kevin stayed back to talk to the girls. Madison took Brian in a big hug and whispered, “I wish you’d stay tonight.” Brian giggled, “I can’t do that! We’re not married!” Madison smiled back, “I didn’t mean it like that Bri. Just someone to snuggle with.” Brian kissed her, “Later babe!” Madison smacked his butt and he ran out the door. Madison said goodbye to Kevin and ran up to her room. It was just Kevin and Kelly left. He brought her close to him and looked her in the eye. She looked up at him and smiled. She brought her lips close to him and closed her eyes. She felt his warm hands on her back and he brought her closer and kissed her deep. Finally they parted and he said goodbye. Kelly floated into living to clean up the rest of the mess. She was so happy she was gleaming. |
