Chapter One![]() Kelly Madison sighed as she looked in the mirror. The blue eyes that stared back at her seemed anxious. Why is it that I always seem to have a bad hair day, when it's most important for me to look good? she wondered as she tried to tame her auburn waves. Tonight was her first ever Backstreet Boys concert, and she wanted to look her best. She was finally going to meet the friends she had been chatting with online, and she wanted to make a good impression. Hayley, Beth, Kimberly, and Kelly had all met through a BSB message board, and had hit it off. One of the things that they all had in common was their age. They were all in their 20's; a little bit older than the average Backstreet fan. And they each liked a different band member, so they were always emailing each other facts about their favorite Boy, and comparing notes. Hayley thought Nick was boyishly mischievous, Beth thought AJ was deliciously wild, Kimberly thought Howie was muy caliente, and Kelly thought tall, dark, and sexy Kevin Richardson was pure poetry in motion, with his lazy southern drawl and his mysterious green eyes. And now here she was, only hours away from meeting her best friends, and seeing the Boys live in concert for the first time ever since falling in love with their music. Ever since she first heard I'll Never Break Your Heart on the radio, she was hooked. And once she caught a glimpse of the Group on a magazine in the checkout at Wal-mart, that was it. Kevin Richardson had her heart forever. She took one last look in the mirror. There's not much more I can do in an airplane bathroom, she thought. She opened the door and went back to her seat. Just then the stewardess made the announcement that they were getting ready to land. Kelly took a deep breath. Here we go, she thought. ![]() "Come on Hayley, we're going to be late!" Beth yelled through the bathroom door as she ran her fingers through her golden brown hair. The girls had met at the hotel, and were all now in the room getting ready for the concert. It was amazing; as soon as they met, they felt like they had known each other all their lives. There was an instant rapport between the four of them, as if they had been sisters in another life. Beth banged on the bathroom door again. "Hayley, for goodness sake. What is taking you so long?" Hayley flung open the bathroom door. "Chill, girl! I just want to look perfect, that's all," she said, laughing. "Hayley, it's just a concert, not the Inauguration Ball," teased Kimberly. "Yeah, but what if I meet Nick? How's he supposed to fall madly in love with me if I look less than perfect?" "Girl, if he don't love you like you are, he ain't ever gonna love you!" Kimberly said. "After all, look at me. I'm not flipping out about how I look." Hayley studied the slender girl. With her long brown hair and eyes so dark they were almost black, she was beautiful. "Well, if I looked like you, I wouldn't either," said Hayley. "You're just naturally gorgeous. You don't have to spend hours working on yourself just to look presentable." "Hayley...." Kimberly started to protest. Hayley had nothing to be ashamed of. Those shiny blonde locks of hers attracted plenty of attention. "Girls, look what time it is. We have to get going." interrupted Kelly. "She's right." said Beth. "Let's go." "Alright, but if we meet the guys, and Nick doesn't like me, it will be all your fault." joked Hayley. "Yeah, like that's ever gonna happen." mumbled Beth, as the girls went out the door. ![]() After the concert, the girls left the arena in high spirits. It had been the first concert any of them had been to, and they were in awe of how much better the Backstreet Boys sounded live. And not only could they sing, but they put on quite a show. The two hours seemed to fly by as they danced, sang, flew through the air, and interacted with the audience. When it was over, everyone seemed reluctant to leave, as if they were hoping the guys would come back out and give another concert. The four girls hung around for a few minutes, but then decided they wanted to go back to the hotel, so they could talk without having to scream at each other. As they got back to the hotel, they noticed a large group of teenage girls standing in the lobby. "You don't think the Boys are staying here, do you?" asked Beth, her eyes wide at the thought. "Judging by all the Backstreet paraphenelia those girls have, I'd say there's a good chance," said Kimberly. "See, I knew it! We're gonna meet Nick and my hair looks terrible!" wailed Hayley playfully. "I doubt that," said Kelly. "I'm sure they're on some secured floor somewhere, surrounded by security." "And there's no way I'm hanging around in the hotel lobby for hours with a bunch of teenyboppers just for an autograph," Kimberly said, as she headed to the elevator. When the girls reached their room, they each changed into their pj's and sat on the beds discussing the concert. They all agreed that it was the best concert they had ever been to. Then the discussion led into which guy looked the hottest. Of course they each had their own opinions, but the consensus was that all the guys looked great. Then Hayley said, "You know what? I'm not a bit sleepy. What do you say we go out on the town?" "Sure!" said Kelly. "This is my first time in Chicago." "Yes, let's do it!" said Kimberly. They got dressed again, and went downstairs to catch a cab. They asked the concierge if he could recommend a place they might enjoy. He gave them the names of a couple clubs, and they headed out. They spent the next couple hours dancing, laughing, and thoroughly enjoying themselves. "This is the most fun I've had in a long time!" laughed Kimberly, on the way back to the hotel. "Me too!" agreed Beth. "We should do this more often," chimed in Hayley. "If only we didn't live so far from each other." They all agreed, and then grew silent, as they realized that after this weekend, it would be a while before they would see each other again. Kelly was the first to break the silence. "We'll do this again, I promise." They arrived at the hotel a few minutes later, and went straight to bed, each girl dreaming of her favorite BSB. ![]() Chapter 2Prologue Table of Contents Hosted Stories ![]() ![]() |
