After 3 years on tour with "Hatchet" we headed to Brackel Germany to record
this '96 release. Executive producer and great friend Rainier Hansel aranged
for us to be on the SPV label in Europe and CMC in the US.
"Devil's Canyon" was the first album of new material in
nearly 10 years for the band. My favorite of the 3 CD's I've recorded with the
band.
A compilation of "King Snake" artists doing Christmas blues songs. Features a
track with Gregg Allman.
Bill Wharton, the "Sauce Boss", is a singer, songwriter and killer slide player
that just happens to cook up a mighty tasty cajun jumbo, usually right on the
gig. He is based out of Tallahassee, Fl were he dishes out servings of the
blues and cases of "Liquid Summer" hot sauce.
A great vocalist from Baton Rouge with a modern blues sound. Erika blends
blues, R&B and soul into her own unique sound.
Tony has been the drummer and percussionist in BB King's big band for many
years and proves himself to be a convincing vocalist as well on this first solo
release. This primarily blues groove oriented album also contains some funk and
jazz cuts to show off Tony's drumming versatility. I have great memories of
sitting with Tony at the mixing desk working on his smokin' drum tracks.
Sonny, one Texas's favorite sons, is known for his stinging lap steel licks and
deep soulful vocals. This is one his strongest offerings to date and the
bluesman with the turban has been nominated for a "WC Handy Award" 2 years
running.
I was honored to have some of my work included in ths anniversary edition by
Alligator records. This CD hightlights some of their best recordings of the
first 25 years of the company.
Ace was born in Oklahoma but has spent the last several years writing,
performing and recording in Florida. His distinctive voice and guitar, slide,
and dobro are featured on this record of first class originals. Ace is a close
friend and fellow "King Snake" engineer.
Eric is a electric blues guitarist and a soulful vocalist with a taste for
traditional material . His music was featured on the TV program "Savannah" in
the fall of '96.
For fans of the traditional blues sound this is a CD for you. This raw, driving
CD cooks from beginning to end. It features brilliant guitar work by Alligator
recording artist Tinsley Ellis.
Young Neal hails from the New England region where he has acquired a loyal
following on the strength of his high energy performances. Recorded live in the
studio with minimal overdubs this CD captures the essence of his
rockabilly/blues flavored live set.
