Conventional Features of a modern day dragon drawing.
How do you know a dragon is a dragon with no living
creature to base your opinions on. Well a dragon is the
creature of the mind and what defines a dragon is just a
series of abstract ideas. Futher more these ideas and styles
change with the time as the fashions change.
Some of the features of modern day dragons are explained below
Basicly a dragon is a glorified lizard or serpent. This
means that they have to have scales. In some dragons there may
be a different type of scaling on the belly. They also tend to
have long tails which is consitant with lizaards and dragons.
Spikes or spines along the back are common.
But a dragon is not a lizard so there has to be features that
differ from lizards. The main one of these are the sizes of
the dragon. Though there are small dragons most tend to be
larger than a human. There tend also to be more frills and
spines a long the face. The muzzle tends to end in a beak like
shape. The eyes tend to be cat like and the face long.
Another characteristic feature of the dragon is the wings.
These may be attached to the fore arms or to be seperate. The
wings seem not to have to be very big.
Over time there is likely to be more features added to our
imagings of what a dragon should look like.
