The preemptive strikes on Iraq by the Neoconservative Administration, made me feel the most humbling shame for my country. But today I feel even more ashamed by the acquiescent position of our government regarding the Israel bombing of civilians, mostly children, in South Lebanon. This inaction is so abominable it is beyond any explanation.
I cannot tell you how many tears I've shed, tears of helplessness, over the visuals of death and destruction on my TV. My God, have we become inhuman, without minds or souls? Have we lost empathy and sensitivity? What has happened to our country? It seems, our leaders have become corporate slave-masters, determining one's worth only by what they can spend.
I implore you my representatives, to show your humanity and help put a stop to the bloodshed. Use your mental talents to reason with the Israeli leaders. Show them that killing civilians, especially children and destroying their homes and infrastructure is not the answer, not an antidote to mend animosity or stop terrorism. In fact it creates more! Bring the Hezbollah movement leaders, as well as the Knesset to the table and tell them to just look at what the Neo-cons have done in Iraq where mistakes and blunders have painted us into a corner, a predicament so savage that no matter what we do we are losers.
Surely there is someone in the Israeli Parliament or a person of rationale within Hezbollah who will scratch his head and pull at his chin and say THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO PEACE! If this cannot be accomplished then I must conclude with a not so simple fact that there is, with all probability, no hope for the human race. thinkingblue
