You ride out from under the damp tunnel leading into the Weyr and stop, blinking in surprise. It's almost empty, your caravan leader had said nothing about this. Perhaps he hadn't known? No matter, you continue forward with your runnerbeast, looking around for a sign of the dragons that should have inhabitated this Weyr. You get to the middle of the Bowl and stop, taking stock of your surroundings. The quiet of the stillness is broken by a brassy bugle a moment later and the apperance of a small wing of dragons in the sky. They all imediatly veer off toward individual Weyrs except for one bronze fellow who answers the challenge from the Hatching Grounds with a croon and a soft landing across the entrance. As he takes up a guard position you sight his rider slid of his flank and catch another in a right embrace before they both turn to you. The smaller, shorter of the two starts to stride over to you purposefully and in deference to what has to be the Weyrwoman you take off your cap and bow your head. She smiles and waves, and as she gets closer you notice a small blue shape attached to her neck. Having never seen a firelizard before you look curiously at it until it unwinds and yawns before seeing you and popping off between. The Weyrwoman is almost upon you now and you take a quick look at her to gauge her age and attitude. What you see is pleasing, a woman almost 30 with smile lines and face that bespeaks of a good heart. You smile back at her and await her approach.

Welcome to Bright Star Weyr. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Weyrwoman Nearalki, senior queenrider in this Weyr. That big bronze fellow over there is the Weyrleader's dragon, Horath. They've just returned from Thread practice manuevers. Would you perhaps be interested in Impressing one of the eggs on the Sands? My queen Grealth has just laid a clutch of 15 eggs. It's not very large I know, but there is a queen egg and Grealth tells me that there is a good sprinkling of the stronger chromatic colors in there.

We have need of 6 girl Candidates and 8 boys if you are interested. You are? That works out quite well. Won't you follow me to the Sands and meet Grealth the mother of this clutch? She tells me that you might make a fine dragon rider but she would like to look at you instead of sensing you from across the Hatching Grounds.

Will you follow Nearalki to the Sands?

You can always take the rules sheet she is handing to you.

Or maybe you'd like to read up on Pernese Dragons?

Perhaps you'd like to meet the other riders of the Weyr?

This is where the great graphics and backgrounds came from.

This is where our Weyrwoman came from.
