Bridgton Easy Riders
April 10, 2008
President Blaine Chapman brought the meeting to order at 6:45pm. Treasurer's
and secretary's reports were read and accepted.
113 family memberships - biggest membership ever. 26 business
memberships
Fuel bill this year $5,300. We projected $4,000. Grants
don't cover what we spent.
VK540 was sold to Rob Knowles for $1200.
Blaine called the Millinocket Club again. No reply. Blaine will
try to contact the President of the Club.
Snowmobile registrations in state are increasing by $2 and out-of-state
by $20.
Carl Hatch questioned if there could be club trips around this area
next year. Blaine said yes, it doesn't have to be Blaine or Steve
to head it up. Any club member can get one going.
Blaine mentioned that there is a cheaper way to go on the club trip
north. There is a place that has large camps which hold 8 to 12
people. These are about 1/2 the price of last year's motel. These
also have kitchens and could save by cooking meals instead of eating at
a restaurant. Sandra Garbardi mentioned when they went on a trip
each couple was responsible for one day's breakfast and dinner.
Linda Kelley mentioned that the car club does not need our snack shack
for their show this summer.
Blaine mentioned that he just became a first time Grandpa. Congratulations
to Blaine and Jan.
Trail work for next year was discussed. Concentration on West
Bridgton trails and behind New England Boat. Also discussed was
Tucker and Drag maintenance. Tucker if we are going to keep needs
to have engine rebuilt. Motion Gunther and seconded by Vic. Drags
are in real need of repairs. Talking about more time than money.
Nominations were requested from the floor. Voting took place.
Those elected were: President, Blaine Chapman; Treasurer,
Donna Grover; Director, Gary Allen, and Director, Phil Garbardi. Congratulations
to all!
Steve Brill mentioned that in another week or two we could probably
take signs down. Vic mentioned getting groups of people from different
areas to sign certain areas next year.
Next meeting: September 11, 2008. Motion to adjourn at
7:45pm by Gunther. Seconded by Ken Towne.

March 13, 2008
President Blaine Chapman brought the meeting to order at 6:45pm.
Treasurer's and secretary's reports were read and accepted.
House of Pizza gave us another $77.86 for a total of $151.80. Secretary
will write them a thank you note.
Blaine commented on next year's poker rally and the need to get
a license. There is currently a bill to remove the need for a license.
Blaine called Millinocket Club to say we are interested in their
Tucker but he hasn't heard back. Blaine will call again.
Blaine also found out that the S10 design of track system is not
holding up.
Total expenses for the season were $8445.46. Total income
(grooming, grants) $14,702. We need to pay Harrison club $1356.
Net profit is $4,900.54.
Trail change - down by Thurlow's going towards Lamprons. Trail
is now water.
Steve and Blaine suggesed that it was time to stop grooming. Still
snow on the trails but we are to the point that we have to wait until
dark for it to be cold enough. Groomers are expensive machines to
fix. Financially it is best thing for the club to stop grooming. One
drag is broken. Both need serious work. All in all we had a good
year with grooming. This weekend we will go get sleds, etc. Phil
Garbardi made a motion that grooming be stopped. Richard King seconded.
Richard Sems mentioned that Naples and Harrison were charging $2
for their maps. He thought we should start charging. Blaine
mentioned that maps will cost us more next yer.
Blaine mentioned that we got audited this year. If we claim
it on our grant, we have to have a receipt for it. Never a big deal.
Signs were discussed in detail.
Serious bridge work needs to be done and was discussed. Need
more brushing done next year.
Bill Kelley mentioned the Car Show at Shawnee Peak on June 7 &
8. Blaine asked if this would be a chance for the club to run the
snack shack. Volunteers would be needed for this as it is during racing
season. Please let Blaine know if you are interested in volunteering.
Nomination Committee: Linda Kelley, Steve Brill and Carl Hatch.
Positions needing to be filled are: President, Treasurer and two
Directors. In order to be an officer, you must attend 80 percent
of the meetings. Blaine asked the nominating committee to find out
how many people are interested -- not to stop asking just because they find
someone. Comittee needs to come back next meeting with all interested.
Blaine also mentioned when Martha and Bill Clark were president
that they instituted a Director of Signage and asked the members if they
thought that position was still needed. General consensus was not
needed. Blaine also mentioned that Linda Kelley had been doing
memberships for 3 years. If someone else would like to do memberships,
please let someone on the nominating committee know.
Blaine also mentioned that the state is going to try to do something
to reimburse for fuel. How much? He did not know.
Steve Brill was approached to see if we were interested in selling
a groomer - Yamaha VK540. Steve thought it was worth $1200. Steve's
recommendation to sell it. Richard Sems made a motion to sell VK540
for $1200 or best offer. It was seconded.
Phil Garbardi asked if we were going to start the maps. Phil
thought a decision should be made early for the date of our poker rally.
Phil thought it should be during school vacation. Saturday
best day but could do it on Sunday.
Blaine mentioned that the Winter Carnival will be held same dates
each year (Martin Luther King week).
Phil Garbardi brought in two ski tickets to be raffled off. Richard
Sems won them. $33 profit to the club. Thanks, Phil.

155 tickets for the club raffle were sold for a profit of $550.

and his family handled giving all the rides. 50/50 of $125 was
won by Bill Mead, a new member. Food booth brought in $1120. Total
profit was $1534.
Poker Rally: $50 in donations, 50/50 of $82 was won by Nancy
King, $849.70 food and raffle prizes for a total profit of $1131.75.
Total profit for both events was $2665.75.
New Business: Lake Region House of Pizza has given us a check
for $73.95 for 10% of their sales from snowmobilers. Also any fundraisers
that need food, they will give it to us at their cost.
Tuckers were discussed in length. Ron Moore made a motion
for Blaine to research prices for maintenance articles and get back to
the club next meeting. (spare track, belts, and fixing cleats).
Trail inspections were done - ITS 80, ITS89 and ITS89 South. Biggest
issue was signing. If there is a bridge, need a sign Caution Bridge
Ahead. Must write on caution sign what caution is. Every
stop sign suppose to have Road and Town on them. Overall, not a
bad report. Bridges were discussed.
Blaine mentioned that Mark Heath, John Brill, and David Grover
have been out by themselves grooming and have done a good job. Need
to train one or two more.
Road crossing signs were discussed in detail. Blaine called
State and signs are $150 a pair. We need to make an application.
State comes out to decide whether a crossing is safe. Jim
Kidder will help with town roads. Gunther made a motion to let Trail
Master and President decide where signs should go. Motion accepted.
Joe Pyne asked if we could trim trees where we can't see at road
crossings. Joe will do the work if someone will go with him.
Carl Hatch asked about redoing the bridge down behind Dunkin Donuts.
Bridge would cost $6,000 - $7,000. There are new landowners
so we were waiting. We can go up Willette Road cheaper. We
can spend our money more wisely.
Club trip to Madawaska was a good time had by all. Another
trip will be planned for next year.
The group stopped at a Groomer's Show in Millinocket on way back.
Groomers were discussed in detail. A Millinocket guy asked
if we were looking for a tucker. He has one that he will sell to
us for $40,000. It has 3800 hours on it. It's a diesel. They
will let us know when they decide to sell. If it's in good shape,
might be something we could not pass up. Blaine said if we sold our
old 85, we could very easily sell for $10-$15,000. Steve Brill mentioned
that this would be a chance to upgrade. Members agreed that this was
something we should entertain..
Trails: We need to take time to decide what we want to do
in West Bridgton. Don't think we will ever get permission to get
tucker through.
Basil Ward went for a ride (52 miles). He was extremely amazed
at the difference in the trails. Basil is willing to donate his
Ford Bronco (mechanically sound but rusty) to the club if the club can
use it. It was mentioned that parts for an S10 are more readily
available than would be for the Bronco.
Bill Blake made a motion to adjourn at 8:18pm. JoAnn Brill
seconded.
Respectfully submitted, Nancy King, Secretary

businesses being a member is a help to us and we ask them for donations
at rally time.
ITS Trail and getting Harrison on our grant: A meeting
was held and Blaine wrote and had them sign that they are responsible
for all things previously discussed. We could get up to $1,000
that we could give them from grant money. We will try for one year
and see how it goes.
Trails: Blaine spoke with Scott Ramsey. Blaine told
him we did $5,000 worth of work on an individual’s land but he won’t
sign for it. Scott Ramsey immediately knew it was Davis Kimball
and said we could claim on our grant. $2,047 was spent on culverts,
which Davis Kimball reimbursed us for. One culvert left over which
Davis said we could use on his land or anywhere. Celebra pit all
fixed. Behind hospital all fixed. Tappewingo Bridge tore apart.
Replaced with pressure treated so should last a long time. Basil
Ward will make up grooming cards for us again. Otherside of Thurlows
to Hannafords all brushed. Everlast Roofing we’ll do this weekend.
Richard King and Carl Hatch to do signing this year. Richard
asked for help. Steve Brill said could start any time. Need
to do trail heading to Punkin Valley this year. Rob and Prim to
do some permanent signing.
Blaine sent letter to Ginn Realty to Mark Ginn regarding a trail.
Found out that Mark had passed away and he needed to speak with Herbert
Ginn. Blaine called Herbert and he would not talk about it.
Blaine will talk with Mr. McKegney. Richard Sens said to contact
Peter Lowell as he is supposed to have maps of whole town. If there’s
an existing trail, it should be on Peter’s map. Someone from Rifle
Club might also know the boundaries.
Our rally will be February 2nd (Saturday) with rain date or
no snow date on March 1st (Saturday) 2008. January 29 & 20
is Bridgton’s Winter Carnival.
Club Ride: To Madawaska on February 10th – leaving 6am.
Staying Sunday night through Thursday night. We will be heading
back Friday although anyone can leave at any time during the week.
Joann will call to say we need so many rooms and then everyone will make
their own reservations.

$10 or under and potluck.
Blaine welcomed back Gunther Radau after his heart attack this
past summer. Blaine also mentioned that Jack Weymouth has joined
the club again.
