About the Host
Welcome to the Brewster McCloud movie fan club. This site is dedicated to Robert Altman's 1970 cult film and its star, Bud Cort. Though Bud is probably best known for the film, "Harold and Maude", he is still fondly remembered as the title character in  one of the most wonderfully bizzare films of all time. This site will strive to give in-depth information on the film and continue to grow as new facts present themselves. Enjoy the site!
Often seen as actor, Bud Cort’s “other” famous role; the title character in director, Altman’s follow-up to M*A*S*H; Brewster McCloud is an off-beat tale of a young recluse (Cort) who lives in a fall-out shelter under the Houston Astrodome, designing for himself a pair of wings which he hopes will enable him to fly. Sally Kellerman plays Brewster’s “mother hen”, helping him to elude capture when the authorities begin to suspect him in a series of brutal murders. The reason for the suspicion is a trademark of bird droppings left at each murder scene. Though this film may not be for all tastes, it has nevertheless developed a cult following over the years. The film is unique in that it has two separate opening credits, an on-camera introduction of each actor, and an ending that’s both downbeat and uplifting at the same time. Fans of Altman’s earlier effort will enjoy seeing many familiar faces, including Cort who made his feature film debut in M*A*S*H. Interestingly enough, the Brewster McCloud character was the inspiration for Harry Potter. In fact, the physical resemblance between the two characters is uncanny. Cast: Bud Cort, Sally Kellerman, Michael Murphy, William Windom, Shelley Duvall, Rene Auberjonois, Stacy Keach, John Schuck, Margaret Hamilton. Director: Robert Altman
Year of Release: 1970
