Arvil Lee Taylor




Arvil Lee Taylor, 80, of the Marlow community of Clinton, died March 31 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church and before retiring was a full-fashion knitter at the former Magnet Mills in Clinton. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army and preceded in death by a brother, Woodrow Taylor, and sister, Carrie Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Hill Taylor; son, Alvin Taylor, who is the baseball coach at Clinton High School; daughter-in-law, Diane Taylor of Clinton; one grandson; sisters, Mary Harless of Clinton; Hazel McKinney of Oak Ridge, Stella Lowe of Georgia; brothers, Homer and Elmer Taylor, both of Clinton; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was on Thursday at Poplar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Dawson officiating. Burial was in Poplar Creek Cemetery. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
