Claude E. Sharp, 84, a lifelong
resident of
Andersonville, died Sunday at his home.
He was a member of the
Andersonville Masonic
Lodge 383 for 50 years serving as Master for one year and as secretary
for one year. He was a
member of the Andersonville Baptist Church where he served as deacon,
Sunday school
superintendent and song leader for many years.
A graduate of the
University of Tennessee,
he taught school in Anderson County for 45 years with 42 years at
Andersonville elementary where he
was principal for 40 years. He also coached many successful high school
and elementary school
basketball teams.
Mr. Sharp enjoyed farming and
gardening.
Survivors include his
wife of 58 years, Helen Wallace Sharp; daughter, Mrs. Gene (Carol)
Raulston of LaGrange, Ky.; sons,
Alan Sharp of Richmond, Va.; John Sharp of Andersonville; eight
grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Tom (Lillie) Hutson of Marlow; Mrs. Francis
(Anna Lou) Welton of Stewart;
Mrs. Gene (Mary) Schubert of Plant City, Fla.; brothers, Charles F. Sharp
of Copper Hill; Earl E.
Sharp of Clinton; George W. Sharp of Andersonville; several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday at Andersonville Baptist Church with the
Rev. Don Adams officiating.
Burial was in Andersonville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the
Andersonville Baptist Church,
Andersonville, Tenn. 37705. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements
