A retired employee of the
Anderson County
highway department, Floyd G. Scruggs of Bethel Rd. Clinton Rt. 1 died at
his home last Thursday night
from lung cancer.
He had been under treatment for the disease for
the past year and had
been bedridden for about three months.
Mr. Scruggs began as a
bridge painter with the
highway department in 1925. He soon became a grader operator and worked
in that capacity with the
county until 1973.
He was a native of Anderson County and had
resided at his farm on Bethel
Rd for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mrs. Edna
Jones Scruggs; two sons,
Frank Scruggs and Kenneth Scruggs, both of Clinton Rt. 1; a daughter,
Mrs. Avery Lowe of Conyers,
Ga.; four grandsons, Donnie Scruggs, Gene Scruggs, Kenneth Scruggs and
Jerry Scruggs; four
granddaughters, Cindy Scruggs, Rachel Scruggs, Patricia Scruggs and
Christy Lowe; a sister, Miss
Sally Scruggs of Clinton; and one brother, Walter (Tom) Scruggs of
Clinton.
Funeral services
were Sunday in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton and
were conducted by the Rev.
J.C. Parrish. Burial was in Norris Memorial
Gardens.
