Majors Kjell & Vicki Steinsland

Today is:

Greetings from Majors Kjell and Vicki Steinsland

e were moved to The Salvation Army Midland Divisional Headquarters as Divisional Youth Secretaries (and Vicki has the additional responsibility as Divisional Candidates Secretary.

During the summer months June through August we serve at Camp Mihaska (Bourbon, MO) where lead the camp programs.

Many people know us as a Religious Non-Profit Charity with people who dress up in Navy Blue uniforms and you call them "Captains". This is certainly true, but we are more then just that. Peter Drucker talks about us being an effective non-profit charity, and we are all flattered by his kind words, but....

The Salvation Army is also a Church, we hold regular weekly worship services, we have members who serve through us and support our work and mission.

Kjell and Vicki the "Majors" are ordained ministers (commissioned in June 1981 as "God's Soldiers" from the College For Officer Training).

Kjell is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, IL) and holds a B.S. in religion and a MCM (Masters in Church Management) degree. (Read Major Kjell's thesis on "Why Salvation Army Corps Don't Grow:  A Study of Salvation Army Corps in the Central Territory")
