Gen., commanded Ewell?s Divn in Jackson's Shenandoah Valley campaign, Seven Days, Second Manassas (lost a leg at Groveton), May 1863 Lt. Gen., commanded II Corps, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, retired due to poor health, Richmond defences, Sayler's Creek (c).
