Greg Brown - 11/16/96 Neighborhood Church, Pasadena, California : B+ (A/B+)

Leonard Cohen - 06/25/76 Montreux, Switzerland ("Live In Montreux") : B+ (A-/B+)
This is sourced from what sounds like a soundboard except that it's a bit fuzzy at times. Unfortunately, this isn't the most complete of the circulating recordings; there is a recording of this show circulating with ten more songs than this one does. This is the only Leonard Cohen bootleg I have from '76, and because I'm fairly new to Leonard Cohen, I can't really comment on the actual quality of the show. Storeroom is an unreleased song written by Leonard Cohen.
Disc 1:
1. Bird On The Wire
2. So Long, Marianne
3. Who By Fire?
4. Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye

- Tracks 6-7 are from 10/31/79 ZDF Television Studio, Munich, Germany
Leonard Cohen - 11/09/85 Montreux, Switzerland ("Diamonds In The Mine Field") : A- (A/B+)
Between some of the tracks there's a very small gap. This isn't the complete concert, but this combined with the other bootleg from this same show called "Heart Housed In Thorn-Bush", most (if not all) of the show is probably there (5 songs on the other bootleg are here as well). This is the only Leonard Cohen show I have from '85, and because I'm fairly new to Leonard Cohen, I can't really comment on the actual quality of the show. It sounded pretty good, so I gave it a B+.
1. Bird On The Wire
2. The Law
3. Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye
4. There Is A War
5. Who By Fire
6. Dance Me To The End Of Love
7. Diamonds In The Mine
8. Night Comes On - some static at start - static from 1:57-2:00
9. The Gypsy's Wife - sound becomes muffled from 1:16-1:21
10. Hallelujah
11. A Singer Must Die
12. The Stranger Song

14. Famous Blue Raincoat
Leonard Cohen - 11/09/85 Montreux, Switzerland ("Heart Housed In Thorn-Bush") : A- (B+/A-)
Occasionally, the tracks fade-out at the end. There is a fair amount of static on this bootleg. It is somewhat minor, but it is there nonetheless (and it dropped the sound quality letter grade from an A to a B+). This isn't the complete concert, but this combined with the other bootleg from this same show called "Diamonds In The Mine Field", most (if not all) of the show is probably there (5 songs here are on the other bootleg as well - the first 5). This is the only Leonard Cohen show I have from '85, and because I'm fairly new to Leonard Cohen, I can't really comment on the actual quality of the show. It sounded quite good, so I gave it an A-.
1. The Law
2. Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye - very small bit of static at 1:44 - static at 2:24
3. There Is A War - static at 0:07 - small bit of static at end
4. Dance Me To The End Of Love - loud static at end
5. Famous Blue Raincoat - static at 3:33
6. Lover Lover Lover - static at 0:35, 4:11, 6:04, and at end
7. The Partisan - written by Anna Marly and Hy Zaret
8. Sisters Of Mercy
9. Memories - static at 1:59 and at end
10. Passing Through - written by R. Blakeslee (arranged by Leonard Cohen) - small static at 1:27, 2:07, and at end

Leonard Cohen - 05/21/93 Zurich, Switzerland : A (A/A)
This is the only Leonard Cohen bootleg I have from '93, and because I'm fairly new to Leonard Cohen, I can't really comment on the actual quality of the show. It sounded really good and blew me away, so I gave it an A. This is really a great show, with almost every song being a highlight! If you like Leonard Cohen, I'd imagine that you'd want this bootleg!

Grateful Dead - 04/05/69 Avalon Ballroom, San Francisco, California : B+ (B+/B+)
This is a good show. Unfortunately there is some crackling in the right speaker starting on disc 1 track 3 and continuing until the end of disc 2. The > before a track means that the previous song flows into this one.

1. Dupree's Diamond Blues
2. Mountains Of The Moon

Grateful Dead - 04/07/71 Boston Music Hall, Boston, Massachusetts : B+ (A-/B+)

Van Morrison - 09/20/86 Frankfurt, West Germany ("Copycats Ripped Off My Soul") : A- (A-/A-)
The performance is quite good but I haven't heard much live Van Morrison so I don't know how this compares to his other performances. Van's band is very talented, as shown in the great opening instrumental songs (what an amazing jazzy Moondance!). The highlights for me are most definitely the last three songs - he gives them a wonderful delivery. I have the original copy of this recording, so any problems listed below or found on the recording are unavoidable, as far as I know.
1. Moondance (instrumental without Van)
2. Celtic Swing (instrumental)
3. Tore Down A La Rimbaud - minor tape fluctuation at the end after song is over
4. Oh The Warm Feeling
5. Here Comes The Knight
6. Domino - minor tape fluctuation at the start before song
7. I Will Be There - short gap at the start
8. Gloria

10. And The Healing Has Begun
11. In The Garden
12. Rave On, John Donne
Van Morrison - 04/01/91 Utrecht, Holland ("Pagan Streams") : B+ (A-/B+)
The show opens with a couple short cover (warm-up) songs before moving into the wonderful And The Healing Has Begun. Summertime In England, at 18 minutes long, is outstanding and very interesting. Caravan is also very cool.

Van Morrison - 12/17/95 Dublin, Ireland ("From Dublin Up To Sandy Row") : A- (A/A-)
I originally traded for this to hear Listen To The Lion, but it unfortunately didn't move me as I had hoped. However, Slim Slow Slider, Ballerina, In The Garden, Star Of The County Down, and Madame George are very well done. This concert's very good throughout.

Van Morrison - 08/30/02 Torquay, England : B+ (B+/B+)
The show opens very strongly with The Way Young Lovers Do which is then followed by three songs from Van's newest album, Down The Road (the first two are the better ones). Streets Of Arklow, Listen To The Lion, and Brown Eyed Girl are all nicely done. Crazy Love, Slim Slow Slider, and And The Healing Has Begun are all also pretty good.

Bruce Springsteen - Live 1995/1996 : A- (A-/A-)
The Ghost Of Tom Joad is a strong opening to this compilation of various songs from various shows through 1995 and 1996. Born In The U.S.A. is given an interesting stripped-bare approach with a slide guitar. The highlights for me come in Across The Border and both Streets Of Philadelphia (the first one, acoustic - the second one, electric with band), and Angel Eyes from the Frank Sinatra tribute. I haven't heard much Bruce Springsteen so I don't know how this compares to his other performances or work, but some of these tracks are really quite good.
1. The Ghost Of Tom Joad (solo? acoustic) (Bruce on harp)
2. Straight Time (solo? acoustic) (Bruce on harp)
3. Darkness On The Edge Of Town (solo? acoustic)
4. Born In The U.S.A. (solo? acoustic) (Bruce? on acoustic slide guitar)

- Track 13 is from a 1995-1996 show (?)
Richard Thompson - 05/17/82 (afternoon) The Bottom Line, New York City, New York ("Hard Luck Stories") : B+ (A/B+)
Richard and Linda Thompson both sing throughout this show, taking turns on lead vocals. This is a soundboard recording, so the sound quality is very good. The performance also sounds quite good but I haven't heard much Richard Thompson so I don't know how this compares to his other performances or work.
1. Backstreet Slide (instrumental) - fades-in (perhaps start is clipped?) - dropout in right speaker at 0:42
2. Just The Motion - dropout in right speaker at 5:09
3. Instrumental
4. Honky Tonk Blues (instrumental) - written by Hank Williams - slight change in mixing at 5:00

Richard Thompson - 03/03/92-03/04/92 The Bottom Line, New York City, New York ("Big City Classic") : B (A/B)
I'm not too familiar with Richard Thompson's other work or performances, but this performance is very much lacking. He can't remember the lyrics to many of the songs and it starts to become rather annoying.
