02/15/94 Kokura, Japan : B+ (B+/B+)

02/16/94 Hiroshima, Japan ("Through A Glass Darkly") : B+ (B+/B+)
The first three songs are all great. I especially like the interesting way Bob sings Shelter From The Storm. This show contains the first acoustic Masters Of War since the Town Hall performance in '63! It's a very good performance, as well. Series Of Dreams is quite strong as well, containing a very defined drum beat. There are a few dropouts in disc 1 track 7 and there are static glitches in disc 2 tracks 1, 3, and 4 (see below for details).
Disc 1:
1. Jokerman
2. Shelter From The Storm (Bob on harp)
3. All Along The Watchtower
4. She Belongs To Me (Bob on harp)

7. Tomorrow Night (acoustic) - written by Sam Coslow and Will Grosz - several dropouts
8. Masters Of War (acoustic)
9. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
10. Series Of Dreams
11. I And I
Disc 2:
1. Maggie's Farm - static glitch near start
encore:
2. Man In The Long Black Coat - sound fades-out at end and then clapping reappears for a second or so only to then be cut
3. It Ain't Me, Babe (acoustic) (Bob on harp) - loud static glitch at 1:24
filler:
4. I'll Remember You (Bob on harp) - static glitch at 1:55

- Track 10 is from 02/07/94 Yokohama, Japan
04/16/94 Valparaiso, Indiana : B (B-/B)
The bass is very low in the mix, so you'd probably want to turn it up. Also, the sound moves around quite a bit. In addition, the sound starts to deteriorate during God Knows: these tracks are hardly listenable because the skips or gaps are just so annoying. So there's no way I could really recommend this recording of the show.
Disc 1:
1. Jokerman
2. If Not For You (Bob on harp)
3. All Along The Watchtower - sound moves around a bit in this song
4. I Shall Be Released
5. Tangled Up In Blue (Bob on harp)
6. I'll Be Your Baby Tonight (Bob on harp) - sound moves around a bit near the end
7. Mama, You Been On My Mind (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
8. Masters Of War (acoustic)
9. Mr. Tambourine Man (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
10. God Knows - clicking sound starts in background during this song - gaps at 4:58, 5:02, 5:30, 5:49, 5:53, 6:02, 6:08, 6:11, 6:15, and a bunch near the end - static distortion at 5:44
11. Joey - gaps at 0:07, 0:24-0:25
Disc 2:
1. She Belongs To Me (Bob on harp)
2. Maggie's Farm - click at 1:19 - there are a few skips in the song
encore:
3. Man In The Long Black Coat - there are a few skips in the song
4. It Ain't Me, Babe (acoustic) (Bob on harp) - there are a few skips in the song
05/94 Nara, Japan (Great Music Experience) : B+ (B/A)
At the Great Music Experience, Bob plays with an orchestra. And, man oh man, does it ever work well! He sings the same three songs (A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, I Shall Be Released, and Ring Them Bells) once every day for three days. Then, all of the other singers who were performing at the Great Music Experience would come out to sing I Shall Be Released together. These songs sound absolutely beautiful. However, on this bootleg, the performances have all been recorded from people in the audience. The bass is up way too high (you can always just turn it down), the balance isn't perfect (one time or two the music drowns out Bob's singing), and there's some audience chatter. There are definitely versions of Bob's set from the last show (05/22/94) circulating in better sound quality than are presented here (the last night was the one that was televised). Still, this is a great bootleg to have.
05/20/94:
1. A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall (acoustic) (orchestra)
2. I Shall Be Released (acoustic) (orchestra)
3. Ring Them Bells (acoustic) (orchestra)
4. I Shall Be Released (orchestra and other singers)
05/21/94:
5. A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall (acoustic) (orchestra)
6. I Shall Be Released (acoustic) (orchestra)
7. Ring Them Bells (acoustic) (orchestra)
8. Just Like A Woman (acoustic) (unknown singer - not Bob) - the male singer sung the first verse and the chorus
9. I Shall Be Released (orchestra and other singers)
05/22/94:
10. A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall (acoustic) (orchestra)
11. I Shall Be Released (acoustic) (orchestra)
12. Ring Them Bells (acoustic) (orchestra)
13. Just Like A Woman (acoustic) (unknown singer - not Bob) - the male singer sung the first verse and the chorus
14. I Shall Be Released (acoustic) (orchestra and other singers)
07/03/94 Paris, France ("Napoleon In Rags") : B+ (B+/B+)
The concert is quite good with superb phrasing. The opening song from the filler is great as well: the live debut of Lady Came From Baltimore. The rest of the filler is so-so: not great, not terrible. There are a few technical problems as outlined below.
Disc 1:
1. To Be Alone With You
2. If You See Her, Say Hello - distortion from 3:05-3:07
3. All Along The Watchtower
4. Just Like A Woman (Bob on harp)
5. Tangled Up In Blue (Bob on harp)
6. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
7. Masters Of War (acoustic) - interruption in clapping continuity at end
8. Mama, You Been On My Mind (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
9. Highway 61 Revisited - sound shifts to left speaker then back to both at 0:29
10. In The Garden - very small static glitch at 0:47 - very small skip at 6:04
11. Maggie's Farm
encore:
12. What Good Am I?
Disc 2:
1. It Ain't Me, Babe (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
filler:

07/19/94 Warsaw, Poland : A- (A-/A-)

Woodstock '94 : A (A/A)
This Woodstock was put together for the 25th year since the original one. Bob gives a great, solid performance. The acoustic set is beautiful. The rest of the concert's also great. I think that the only song here that was officially released was Highway 61 Revisited.

3. All Along The Watchtower
4. It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry (Bob on harp)
5. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
6. Masters Of War (acoustic)
7. It's All Over Now, Baby Blue (acoustic) (Bob on harp)

10. Highway 61 Revisited

12. It Ain't Me, Babe (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
10/08/94 Boston, Massachussetts ("Blue Eyed Boston Boy") : B (B/B+)
Unfortunately, throughout the first part of this recording there is a glitch that keeps coming up which almost sounds vinyl-sourced, but I'm not sure what it is. The acoustic set is very well performed (as are the encore filler tracks). It's neat the way Don't Think Twice flows into Knockin On Heaven's Door, which starts acoustic but then goes electric. In Ballad Of A Thin Man, there's a very cool moment when Bob sings a verse in a very interesting way (the sword swallower verse). Actually, he does the whole song very well. Another unfortunate thing is that Rainy Day Women, featuring Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen, is missing from the filler.
Disc 1:
1. Jokerman
2. Senor (Tales Of Yankee Power)
3. All Along The Watchtower
4. Queen Jane Approximately (Bob on harp)

6. Most Likely You Go Your Way And I'll Go Mine
7. The Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll (acoustic) (Bob on harp)

5. It Ain't Me, Babe (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
filler:
6. You're A Big Girl Now (Bob on harp)
7. One Too Many Mornings (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
8. Two Soldiers (acoustic) - written by unknown (traditional)
9. Highway 61 Revisited (Bruce Springsteen on guitar) (Neil Young on guitar)
- Tracks 6-8 are from 10/09/94 Boston, Massachusetts
- Track 9 is from 10/20/94 New York City, New York
10/19/94 New York City, New York ("Stuck Inside Of Roseland") : B+ (B+/B+)
This recording circulates in this form, but it is missing a few songs from the show: Jokerman (before If You See Her, Say Hello) then Like A Rolling Stone and It Ain't Me, Babe at the end (these were the two encore songs). Also, the sound moves from speaker to speaker throughout. Mama You Been On My Mind and One Too Many Mornings are well done. There are four BOTT songs done here.
1. If You See Her, Say Hello (Bob on harp)
2. All Along The Watchtower
3. You're A Big Girl Now (Bob on harp)
4. Tangled Up In Blue (Bob on harp)
5. Most Likely You Go Your Way And I'll Go Mine
6. Mama, You Been On My Mind (acoustic) (Bob on harp)
7. One Too Many Mornings (acoustic)
8. It's All Over Now, Baby Blue (acoustic) - glitch at 1:14
9. Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again
10. Shelter From The Storm (Bob on harp)
11. Maggie's Farm - fades-out at end (cuts off part of ending?)
MTV Unplugged Rehearsals : A- (A/B+)
Bob and the band get ready for the wonderful MTV Unplugged shows in these rehearsals, which are taken from soundboard. They are a bit interesting to have and listen to, but I much prefer the actual MTV Unplugged shows.
1. I Want You (acoustic) - tape fluctuation at start
2. Tombstone Blues (acoustic)
3. Tombstone Blues (acoustic) - working on end
4. Tombstone Blues (acoustic) - working on end

7. Desolation Row (acoustic)
8. Hazel (acoustic) (Bob on harp)

12. Dignity (acoustic)
13. With God On Our Side (acoustic)
Completely Unplugged - 11/17/94 and 11/18/94 MTV Unplugged Sessions : A (A/A)
Wow. What a show. This contains all the songs (from the soundboard) played over the two days that Bob was playing for MTV Unplugged. There are many gems included here that weren't included on the official release, and the editing and mixing that was done to the official release hasn't been done here. In fact, this bootleg here has easily become one of my favourite ones. Dylan's in top form, the band is powerful and great, the song choice is excellent (they even got the live debut of Dignity!) - all in all, this concert must've been one hell-of-a-ride! And to have seen how small the audience was makes me eternally jealous of those who got to go see this awesome show. However, Completely Unplugged doesn't replace MTV Unplugged (the official release); they go together.
