Between Saved and Shot Of Love : B+ (A/B+)
It's unknown whether or not these titles are accurate, it's also unknown to me if all these songs have been written by Bob Dylan (I'll assume they are - except that I know Mystery Train wasn't written by Bob). I'm also not aware of any place which has transcribed the lyrics to these songs. These songs are very much still in progress. However, many of them show great promise. They are also very interesting historically. The Shot Of Love outtakes are really great.

06/23/81 Colombes, France : B (B-/B+)
The sound moves around a lot and the audience keep yelling for those infront of them to sit down. Girl From The North Country is beautiful, and What Can I Do For You? is another highlight. Let It Be Me was done three times by Bob in '81: this is the first time Bob's ever played it live (it's not bad, but it's not really great either). Anyway, this show is a pretty good show all-around.

The phrasing and overall vocal delivery in this show by Bob remind me why it is I love the '81 tour so much. I can't really single out any highlights as all the songs seem to, in one way or another, stand out.

07/10/81 Drammen, Norway ("In The Summertime") : B+ (B-/A-)
This is an awesome concert and it's a pity that the sound quality isn't better. It's still worth having. Actually, it's worth having just for this Girl From The North Country; it's absolutely incredible! Bob's vocals, the way in which the song has been arranged, and the piano work sooooooo well together! In The Summertime is well done. Bob sings Jesus Is The One which is a song he wrote but has never been officially released. Two songs from the filler fade out early (see below). From the 07/10/81 show, this bootleg is missing (considering only the songs that Bob sung) Maggie's Farm and Solid Rock.

Bob's voice isn't in very good shape this night...it's too raspy (or something) for my liking. However, his voice smoothens out for Girl From The North Country (one of my fav '81 songs). Slow Train is cut short because of a blackout. The first song after the blackout, Mr. Tambourine Man, isn't present on this bootleg (maybe the taper wasn't ready or something?). Jesus Is The One is a song Bob wrote but never officially released. This show's a good '81 show.

10/21/81 Boston, Massachusetts : B- (B-/B)
The bass is too high in the mix, so one would probably need to fiddle around with the treble and bass to get it right. The sound quality's somewhat poor, so it's hard to enjoy the show fully. This is recommended for completists only. Mr. Tambourine Man is a highlight, as is the When You Gonna Wake Up, which features some guest harmonica player. The reason this show is historically important is because it features one of only two times Bob's friend Larry Kegan came out and sung No Money Down...and Bob plays tenor saxophone! However, the ending is clipped off of this song. However, as filler, this bootleg also has the other of the two versions of the song. The second one is in better quality. Although it sounds like something really interesting, it's really nothing great at all!
Disc 1:
1. Gotta Serve Somebody
2. I Believe In You
3. Like A Rolling Stone
4. I Want You - several minor dropouts from 1:15-1:16
5. Man Gave Names To All The Animals
6. Maggie's Farm
7. Girl From The North Country
8. Ballad Of A Thin Man
9. In The Summertime - edit at end
10. All Along The Watchtower - gap at 0:50

13. The Times They Are A-Changin' (solo? acoustic --> electric) (Bob on harp)
14. A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall
15. It's All In The Game (sung with Clydie King?) - written by Carl Sigman and Charles Gates Dawes
16. Slow Train
Disc 2:
1. Masters Of War - beginning up to second line is cut - very weird noise at 0:03-0:04
2. Mr. Tambourine Man
3. Solid Rock
4. Just Like A Woman
5. Heart Of Mine
6. Senor (Tales Of Yankee Power)
7. When You Gonna Wake Up (? on harp)
8. In The Garden
encore:
9. Blowin' In The Wind (Bob on piano?)
10. It Ain't Me, Babe (solo acoustic)
11. No Money Down (sung by Larry Kegan) (Bob on tenor saxophone!) - ends early at 3:55
filler:
12. No Money Down (sung by Larry Kegan) (Bob on tenor saxophone!) - a few dropouts at 1:53
- Track 12 is from 10/19/81 Merrillville, IIndiana
10/29/81 Toronto, Ontario : B- (C+/B)
The sound is really quite 'muddy' for the first song and part of the second (see below for details). Even after, there are several slight dropouts and volume changes here and there. There's someone who occasionally whistles loudly in the right speaker, and the sound shifts to the left speaker whenever the whistle comes up. It also sounds at times as though someone near the recorder is in a rocking chair! The last three songs are in terrible sound quality. The highlights are: Girl From The North Country, Mr. Tambourine Man, and Let It Be Me. I think Let It Be Me has only been performed by Bob three times (all three in '81) and this is the second time. It sounds very good, but the beginning is a bit off as well as one or two other moments and there's the annoying rocking chair noise throughout. Obviously, this boot's recommended for completists only!
Disc 1:
1. Gotta Serve Somebody - volume gets quieter then returns to normal from 0:59-1:01 - several small dropouts from 1:13-1:14
2. I Believe In You - sound changes from 'muddy' sound to clearer sound at 2:40
3. Like A Rolling Stone
4. I Want You
5. Man Gave Names To All The Animals
6. Maggie's Farm
7. Girl From The North Country
8. Ballad Of A Thin Man
9. Simple Twist Of Fate some mike bumps at start - sound is a bit muffled from 3:04-3:06
10. All Along The Watchtower
11. I'll Be Your Baby Tonight - silence at start, then fades-in after cutting out beginning of song
12. Forever Young (Bob on harp)
13. Gamblin' Man (sung by backup singers) - written by unknown (traditional)
14. The Times They Are A-Changin' (solo? acoustic --> electric) (Bob on harp)

2. Watered-Down Love
3. Masters Of War

9. In The Garden - gap at 7:03
encore:
10. Blowin' In The Wind (Bob on piano?) - sound quality becomes terrible
11. It Ain't Me, Babe (solo acoustic) (Bob on harp) - sound quality is terrible - gap near end
12. Knockin' On Heaven's Door - sound quality is terrible
11/10/81 New Orleans, Los Angeles ("Child's Balloon") : B+ (A-/B+)
The sound fades-out at the end of each track and then fades-in to the next track, unfortunately. I rather like this show's All Along The Watchtower. This show has the live debut of a song written by Bob that hasn't been played since and hasn't been recorded in a studio: Thief On The Cross.
Disc 1:
1. Gotta Serve Somebody
2. I Believe In You
3. Like A Rolling Stone
4. I Want You
5. Man Gave Names To All The Animals - song interrupted from 3:53-3:54 by other music and then a static glitch
6. Maggie's Farm
7. Girl From The North Country
8. Ballad Of A Thin Man
9. Heart Of Mine
10. Simple Twist Of Fate - fades-in at end, some sound comes up for a second, then fades-out again
11. All Along The Watchtower
12. I'll Be Your Baby Tonight
13. Forever Young (Bob on harp)
Disc 2:
1. Gamblin' Man (sung by backup singers) - written by unknown (traditional)

3. Watered-Down Love
4. Shot Of Love
5. Masters Of War
6. Just Like A Woman
7. Thief On The Cross (live debut of this song)
8. Dead Man, Dead Man
9. In The Garden
encore:
10. Blowin' In The Wind (Bob on piano)
11. It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) (solo acoustic)

13. Knockin' On Heaven's Door
11/12/81 Houston, Texas ("You Can't Kill An Idea") : B+ (A-/B+)
This is the show that oddly opens with a french introduction for Bob Dylan (even though the show was in Houston, Texas). Unfortunately, there are very very small skips between each song that are hardly audible, but they are there. Between some of the songs, Bob gives rather unusual and sometimes funny comments. The show as a whole is good, but nothing really stood out for me; it's an all-around good show.

1. Gotta Serve Somebody
2. I Believe In You
3. Like A Rolling Stone
4. The Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll

7. Girl From The North Country
8. Ballad Of A Thin Man
9. Simple Twist Of Fate (Bob on harp)
10. Heart Of Mine
11. All Along The Watchtower
12. I'll Be Your Baby Tonight
13. Forever Young (Bob on harp)
Disc 2:
1. Gamblin' Man (sung by backup singers) - written by unknown (traditional)
2. The Times They Are A-Changin' (solo? acoustic --> electric) (Bob on harp)

8. Masters Of War
9. When You Gonna Wake Up?

encore:
11. Blowin' In The Wind (Bob on piano) (Bob on harp) - Bob sings first two lines then mic makes a noise and he doesn't sing for a while, then he sings the last verse

13. It Ain't Me, Babe (solo acoustic) (Bob on harp)
14. Knockin' On Heaven's Door
