On It's Alright Ma, Bob stretches out the end word of most of the lines and this has an interesting effect, and also, his voice is very rough (and soft at the same time). This show has the first Man Of Constant Sorrow since '90 and the most surprising part is that the arrangement is based on the one from O Brother Where Art Thou, which had won the Grammy for Album Of The Year just before this tour (this was the first show of the tour); it's a great version with Bob using a very raspy voice. This show also had the first Solid Rock since '81. This show has many great moments, among them a very cool Rainy Day Women #12 & 35.

04/07/02 Oslo, Norway : B+ (B+/B+)
This show opens fairly strongly despite some lyric flubs, with Bob's voice very gravelly (and I like it). Positively 4th Street is given new life here and becomes a highlight. Visions Of Johanna and Ballad Of A Thin Man have great phrasing. This show also features the second Solid Rock and Man Of Constant Sorrow of the tour.

10. All Along The Watchtower
04/15/02 Frankfurt, Germany : B+ (A-/B+)
There is someone at this show, Brady Blade, who plays percussion on all songs (shaker, tambourine, bongos), though he doesn't make a huge change to the sound. This is a pretty good show. The highlights are a very well-sung Mr. Tambourine Man and a very energetic Summer Days.

9. Blowin' In The Wind (acoustic) (Bob on intro harp)
04/17/02 Munich, Germany : A- (B+/A-)
This is an all-around good show. The highlights are the rare In The Garden, the 2002 re-arranged Not Fade Away, a harmonica intro to If Dogs Run Free, and the unbelievable jam that comes from Cat's In The Well (which lasts almost 13 minutes).

04/23/02 Innsbruck, Austria : B+ (B/B+)
This was the first complete show on the Europe 2002 tour in which Jim Keltner acted as replacement for George Receli on drums. The highlights are the acoustic debut of Senor, the rare I Believe In You (first one since '98), and a long Cat's In The Well.

The volume is quite low on this recording so you'll have to turn it up a lot. This show contains what might be the third ever acoustic I Want You (I don't think he's played it acoustic since the MTV Unplugged shows, when he played it twice, and I don't think he played it acoustic prior to those shows). This show, like any, has its moments, but it's not one of the better shows I've heard from 2002.

Bob seems to be in great form from the get-go: there's lots of energy in Wait For The Light To Shine, then comes a rare treat: an acoustic If Not For You, which I think is only the second ever live acoustic rendition. There are a bunch of other treats, but a particular highlight is A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall: the phrasing is great, but then Bob's mic starts getting feedback in the last verse. He continues to try to sing, then steps away from the mic and belts out the words. When the chorus comes around, the audience all chime together and deliver it. It's quite something. You can read concert reviews by others who witnessed this here. Not Dark Yet is another wonderful highlight. Not Fade Away, re-arranged for the 2002 tour, also sounds good.
Disc 1:
1. Wait For The Light To Shine (acoustic) (Larry on mandolin) - written by Fred Rose
2. If Not For You (acoustic)
3. Desolation Row (acoustic)
4. Mama, You Been On My Mind (acoustic) (Bob on intro harp)

2. Summer Days (Tony on standup bass)
3. Not Dark Yet (Bob on intro harp)
4. Drifter's Escape (Bob on end harp)
5. Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat

This was my eighth Bob concert and it was the worst one I've seen; you can read my concert review if you want to find out why. The show isn't as bad on recording as it was in concert, but nonetheless it isn't a great concert. Charlie's very quiet in the mix, and there's some static distortion near the end of disc 2 (as mentioned below).

This was the tenth Bob show I've seen and you can read my concert review if you want. This was a good show, with Tomorrow Is A Long Time as the highlight.
