01/31/02 Orlando, Florida : A- (A-/A-)
This is the first show of 2002, and several changes have taken place: Bob now plays intro harmonicas (instead of at the end of the songs) and there's a new drummer. The new drummer gives the show a new feel, but it also sounds a bit 'rough' at this point. He certainly shows great potential! Highlights are It's Alright Ma (great new arrangement), Summer Days, and Drifter's Escape. The other songs are all pretty good too.

The Love And Theft material sounds very fresh and alive: Lonesome Day Blues, Floater, and High Water are excellent. It Ain't Me Babe is also sung very well by Bob. Bob also breaths new life into Things Have Changed (great phrasing!). There is unfortunately an odd sound in the left speaker and I can't really tell if it's a flaw or if it's from the show (someone crinkling something)...but I lowered the letter grade one step for this.

Mr. Tambourine Man and It's Alright, Ma have some very good phrasing - actually, the whole show has it. Boots Of Spanish Leather is a nice treat with the last verse being unbelievably good. Mississippi is wonderful. Unfortunately, a few minor pops start with disc 2 track 7 and continue to the end of the disc.

Just like it was at the show, this recording has an echo present - I should know because I was at this show (it was my fourth Bob show). My review for this show can be found here. Although the show was odd to witness (I was standing in the dirt, where a rodeo had just been, in front of a rotating stage with Bob and the band on it), it sounds pretty good on recording.
1. I Am The Man, Thomas (acoustic) - written by Ralph Stanley and Larry Sparks - 0:13 of silence at start - start is clipped - sound is a bit muffled at a few points - some distortion at end
2. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right (acoustic) (Bob on intro harp)
3. Searching For A Soldier's Grave (acoustic) (Larry on mandolin) - written by Johnnie Wright, Jim Anglin and Jack Anglin

This was the sixth Bob show I've seen. Unfortunately the sound moves around a fair amount in this recording (annoyingly so at times) and there is a fair amount of audience chatter. Highlights for me include: Mr. Tambourine Man, A Hard Rain, One Too Many Mornings, and All Along The Watchtower. My review of this show can be found here. I'd be interested in obtaining a better recording of this, if one exists.

Songs that stand out to me are Boots Of Spanish Leather, It's Alright Ma, I'll Be Your Baby Tonight, Visions Of Johanna, and All Along The Watchtower. Unfortunately, the starts of Duncan And Brady and Summer Days (start of each disc) are clipped (though Bob hasn't started singing yet in Duncan And Brady).
