This show is pretty good, unfortunately there's someone in the audience who, throughout It's Alright Ma, continues to yell "yeah!". Needless to say, this becomes very annoying. The yelling voice is in the background so the guy's not too close to the taper, but he's still irritating. There's some other annoying audience chatter during some of the other acoustic songs. Gotta Serve Somebody is very awesome, as it has a very strong bass and an interesting end to each chorus. Ballad Of Hollis Brown, 'Til I Fell In Love With You, and Knockin' On Heaven's Door are quite well done. Actually, this whole show's well done.

Despite some rare songs in this show, the show doesn't really seem all that great to me. I do like Visions Of Johanna, Don't Think Twice, Cold Irons Bound, and All Along The Watchtower. If Not For You and Cat's In The Well are close to being among the highlights for me, but they fall short. There are a few static glitches on this bootleg, as detailed below.

Bob's delivering great phrasing and pacing from the first song, and this carries through the first acoustic set. The harp solo on Mr. Tambourine Man is very nice. Shelter From The Storm is a nice gem and Maggie's Farm has a great sound to it. Unfortunately, disc 2 has a bunch of gaps here and there - I don't know if I can recommend this as I'm sure that one could find a version without these problems. On Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Bob's mic is off for most of the song and you can only barely hear him through the stage monitors...it's like a karaoke version!

This show is very good all-around!; it's hard to pick out specific highlights. Love Minus Zero/No Limit has great phrasing and a wonderful harmonica solo, and Knockin' On Heaven's Door is unbelievable... All Along The Watchtower has a wicked start to it, then Bob really tears it up! Awesome. Blowin' In The Wind and Highway 61 Revisited are both on disc 2's track 8.

Highway 61 Revisited
08/25/01 Lancaster, California : B (B/B+)
Despite an interesting setlist, this show is just 'good'. Gotta Serve Somebody is great, and the harmonica solo at the end of It's All Over Now, Baby Blue is wonderful. Drifter's Escape is very interesting, with a very long instrumental break at the end, then Bob's wicked harmonica solo. Throughout the show, the bass is up a bit high in the mix, and the volume is, overall, quiet (it gets a bit louder near the start of the first song - see below - but nonetheless remains quiet).
Disc 1:
1. Humming Bird (acoustic) (Charlie on electric guitar) - written by Johnnie Wright, Jim Anglin and Jack Anglin - static glitch at start before music - two static glitches during intro - intro ("ladies and gentlemen...") is clipped - click at 0:28 - volume turns up to a better level at 0:58 (starts very quiet)
