There's a gap between All Along The Watchtower and Like A Rolling Stone on disc 2. June 15 - the Bob show I almost made it to. And guess what? June 15, 2000 was my 18th birthday!
Another great Bob show. Masters Of War and Ring Them Bells are highlights from the acoustic part, and then there's the live debut of Standing In The Doorway, rockin' versions of Down In The Flood, Drifter's Escape, and Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat (with harp!) in the electric part. This is one of my favourite versions of Things Have Changed; it's very blues-y and very different from the way it was usually done in 2000. She's About A Mover's an awesome rocker!
This bootleg contains the first acoustic live performance of The Ballad Of Frankie Lee And Judas Priest, and it also happens to be the first performance of the song since '88. I think that if Dylan had got the lyrics right, this would be the best live version...unfortunately he gets very few words right and mainly just improvises. Sometimes it rhymes, and sometimes it even makes sense! Rank Strangers To Me is awesome. So are Down In The Flood, Senor, and Drifter's Escape.

This World Can't Stand Long and Country Pie are both on track 6. This is a good concert with several rare songs. For example, it's got the only House Of The Rising Sun to have been played since '87. Another rarity is Queen Jane Approximately. After This World Can't Stand Long, Bob reminds us to support our local library. Then, after House Of The Rising Sun, Bob tells us that he played that song, of course, because it's Father's Day.

There are three instances in which songs 'skip' on this bootleg: in It's Alright Ma, two words are skipped, in Most Likely You Go Your Way, three words are skipped, and in Rainy Day Women, there's a skip in an instrumental part (it's also short). In all instances, the skip is fairly smooth and you probably wouldn't notice it if the music was background music. There is, however, one static-glitch in Forever Young. It's quiet and fairly unobtrusive as well. These glitches are a pity as the show would otherwise be very good (it still is - depends on how much these glitches could bother you).

I must say first of all that this bootleg features a woman with the world's most annoying scream. It's absolutely horrid. While playing this show on my CD player, I couldn't concentrate on my homework as the scream pierced my subconscious. However, as I listened to it on my computer, it wasn't as bad (I almost didn't notice she was there). The good thing about her is that she helps to confirm that the last track of disc 2 (which'll be discussed more later) IS from the same concert as Bob's set (06/21/00). At any rate, I've lowered the quality rating because of her.
On to the show now: Bob opens with three cover songs, all nicely done (two of them rare: Stone Walls And Steel Bars was only played 4 times in the year 2000, and Dark As A Dungeon was only played 2 times). This is the second acoustic The Ballad Of Frankie Lee And Judas Priest ever, but he still messes up the lyrics. We get a nice, long (7:55) Simple Twist Of Fate (he only performed this song 9 times in the year 2000). In Like A Rolling Stone, there's one line that he sings in such a way, it makes it worth hearing the whole song (to me, anyway)! Actually, he does the whole song very well. At the end of disc 2 is a LONG track (60:13) of Phil Lesh's music. I have no idea how much of his set this is or anything like that, but it is nice background music. It doesn't sound like it's his complete set.

Masters Of War and It's All Over Now, Baby Blue are both done very well. Down In The Flood, Shooting Star (one of my favourite songs!), and The Wicked Messenger are absolutely awesome. When Bob introduces the band, he cracks the joke about being a doctor but not having any patients.

The volume seems to keep getting quieter as I had to keep turning it up. The Ballad Of Frankie Lee And Judas Priest, If Not For You, and Cold Irons Bound are the highlights.

07/18/00 Toronto, Ontario : B (B-/B+)
Two things to note about this recording: Bob and the band sound distant (and audience chatter is a bit upfront at times), and every so often wind can be heard blowing into the microphone (this show was at an outdoor venue). Also, the bass is very low in the mix. Gotta Serve Somebody is a highlight for me with Bob really getting into it (you might be Bono, you might be Sting - you might be Madonna, you might be Cher).
Disc 1:
1. Duncan And Brady (acoustic) - written by unknown (traditional) - scratchy sound at 2:44
2. Song To Woody (acoustic) (Larry on mandolin)
3. Desolation Row (acoustic)

9. Gotta Serve Somebody
10. She Belongs To Me
11. Drifter's Escape (Bob on harp)
12. Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat

3. Highway 61 Revisited
4. Blowin' In The Wind (acoustic)

This is an all-around good show. I like The Ballad Of Frankie Lee And Judas Priest, despite a few lyrical flubs. Ballad Of A Thin Man, Down In The Flood, Tears Of Rage, and Cold Irons Bound are all nice treats. There is an awesome guitar solo by either Charlie or Larry during Highway 61 Revisited! Wow.
