Plants to watch out for

I participated in several plant swaps on GardenWeb and they were very successful. Everyone on there is so helpful and I have learned alot from that site. They have forums where you can ask questions and someone is bound to come up with an answer. They also have beautiful galleries where you can view photos of plants.

In some of these plant swaps, I got plants that I had no idea how they would act in my garden. One that I am now working hard to get rid of is plume poppy, or Macleaya cordata. This plant goes everywhere very aggressively. The leaves are really attractive and the plant gets quite large; at least it did in my azalea bed. Only plant it where it can go anywhere it wants to without disturbing anything else.

Another one to be careful with is obedient plant, or Physostegia virginiana. I planted a few and in one year they have grown into many. I will keep them but will have to thin them out this fall. Mine have light pink flowers and are quite attractive. They are in full sun in my yard so maybe a little shade would keep them under better control. I will definitely save them for other sunny spots where they can spread to their heart's content.
