Union Veteran James Wade LaConia, Sr.

JAMES WADE LaCONIA, Sr. Private Company K, 28th Pennsylvania Infantry Co. E, 91st Pennsylvania Infantry 147th Pennsylvania?
James Wade LaConia was born in 1841 in Pennsylvania to Wade LaConia & his wife. On 20 July 1861, James Wade enlisted in Co. K, 28th Pennsylvania Infantry. Discharged for disability (believed he suffered from heat stoke enroute to the Battle of Cedar Mountain) on 11 June 1864, he later enlisted as a substitute on 29 March 1865 with Co. E, 91st Pennsylvania Infantry. He was discharged on 2 June 1865. There is also a record with the 147th Pennsylvania pertaining to LaConia, but it is believed that his father, Wade LaConia (born 30 September 1827 in Camden, New Jersey and died 20 January 1914) may have also served in the Union army and that might actually be his regiment. James Wade LaConia, Sr. applied for a veteran's pension on 7 September 1864.
Sometime after the war, he married Mary Jane Nichols (who is believed to have nursed him back to health after the sunstroke episode). He located to Luray around 1873. The couple had a total of eleven children by 1886. He, along with his wife and three of their children are buried in Green Hill Cemetery, Luray, Va.
