Our interest in obedience started with the 2 Australian Cattle Dogs that we owned as our first two
By the time I (Lilian, who is writing this story) had decided that a dalmatian
was the type of dog I
wanted I was interested in both showing and obedience. So I chose Kristy from
obedience and
show lines and our fun started.
At 12months old Kristy was ready to trial...but due to other commitments we didn't enter the trial ring just yet. She continued her show career and then had a break to have her first litter.
.which produced my "Billy".
When we did get into the trial ring Kristy did it with style... in four trials she gained her CD with 170 (2 nd place), 183 (2nd place) and 180 (3rd place).

That was many years ago now..he hasn't done any trials since..we spent years after that showing him and working toward his Grand Championship.
As of September 2000 Torchy had two passes
towards her CD which she gained with me as her handler and she gained her
third pass with her new owner Katie, who had never been in the trial ring
before !!!!
and Lucky has two passes which she gained prior to us moving
to the central coast..we will be back in the trial ring very soon !!!
Our aim is to have at least a CD title on every dog we
have...

our local obedience club...
What do all these letters mean????
"C.D"
is a title recognised by the Australian National Kennel Council and these
letters after a dogs name on its registration papers stands for "Companion
Dog". This is also commonly known as "Novice" obedience level.
To obtain this title the dog and handler must work together as a team,
completing a series of exercises with a pass in each individual
exercise obtaining a minimum score of 170 out of 200 to obtain one pass toward
this title. The total number of "passes" is three..at three different trials..to
make up the CD title.
The exercises are:
"Heel on lead".."Stand for Examination"... "Stand Stay"..."Recall" and the
Group Exercises... "Sit Stay" and the "Drop Stay" are all worth 30 points
maximum each..
"Heel Free" is worth 40 points maximum.
