In August 2000 we entered two of our dals (Billy & Torchy) in the Endurance Test to gain their Endurance Titles....
What does this involve you ask!!!!
It is a title recognised by the Australian National Kennel Council and the letters "E.T" are added to the dogs registration papers as an official title that the dog has gained.
So what did we and the dogs have to do?????
We had a choice of riding a bike or jogging with the dogs...most people bike ride!!!..and so did we. They had to do a trot beside the bike for 20kms, with 3 breaks and rests for a vet to assess each dog to make sure it was coping with the run physically ...(temperature, heartrate, condition of pads, respirations, stress level etc).
They ran (and we biked) over grass, gravel & asphalt..and had to do a short obedience test at the beginning and end of the trial.
The trial is to test the stamina and therefore fitness of the individual dog....
and Billy (7.5 years at the time) & Torchy (4 years) passed with flying colours.....
We were very fortunate and grateful to have our friends
help us out....
Stuart Barr came a 3 hour drive to help us by taking Billy for the
whole 20kms..
.and Leanne Bullard shared the riding with Patrick for Torchy.
