"His book tells the story of Medellin cocaine cartel boss Pablo Escobar, became one of the richest men on Earth and virtually controlled Colombia before he was hunted down and killed in 1993." "Killing Pablo" Bowden says is a much more complicated story than Black Hawk Down and it takes place over a much longer period of time. "Pablo was personally a very polite person and seemed a bit extreme on his politeness." One of Escobars lawyers once said, "when he was stoned which was all the time, he would tell stories about crimes he committed in his earlier years." "Close friends to Escobar tell people that Escobar wasn't much of a cocaine user but on the other hand he did smoke a lot of marijuana." Pablo became a Godfater of international cocaine trafficking by offering a choice to anybody standing in his way: Plata o plomo (which means, silver or lead), eventually Escobar got both. "Pablo Escobar in 1989 was lised by Forbes Magazine as the seventeenth richest man in the world." After the killing of hundreds of judges, Police officers, and politicians, "Escobar was being tracked by families who were victimized, they killed over three hundred people who aided in Pablos workings." In January 1951, the United Nations headquarters offically opens in New York City. "On January 17th, 1951 Chinese and North Korea forces capture Seoul in the Korean War". "May 14th, 1951 the first volunteer ran passenger trains on Talyllyn Railway, Wales. |
