ACT 1 –Assault
Chp1
The action in chapter one scene one was when everyone was loading up and heading to Somalia. The men thought they would only be there for an hour or two. Since they thought that they would only be out there for a little while they didn’t bring any canteens of water or night goggles. One of the guys even took out their back part of his bullet proof best because he said that he wasn’t going to get shot in the back while running away.

The significant part of this chapter was when they told what time and when it happened. If they didn’t then we would be wondering the whole time of when this took place. Without knowing what time or where it would be taking place would leave the reader in suspense but it wouldn’t let the reader be informed like they would want to be.

One line that I like was when Durant announced, “f***in Irene.” I like that part because of the way he put it. He put it as if he were saying it in a way of, Oh woopy. “Why would anybody want to go to war?” she asked. “Goodale told her it would be like, as a nurse, after all her training, never getting the chance to work in a hospital. I liked the way Goodale told his mother that because he made a point. Why train so hard for something and not be able to do what they were training so hard to do.

Chp 2
Eversmann seems like a real calm man. The way that he acted when Blackburn missed the rope and fell out of the helicopter at 60 feet. He seemed docile with himself. I would not have been able to manage myself if I just watched one of my men fall out of a helicopter especially that high above ground. Eversmann thought of what to do but I would have probably freaked out.

I think that it is great the way the guys look after each other. When Blackburn fell out of the helicopter Eversmann didn’t take his time getting out of the helicopter. I liked the way that Eversmann hurried up and yelled for the medic. I don’t get how they thought he got shot when they weren’t even getting shot at, at the time. No one could figure out how he missed the rope but they had bigger problems to deal with.

I have three questions about Eversmann. Was he scared the whole time that he was in Somalia? I also wanted to know if he had second thought about joining the army or his he happy with what he does? The other person that I have three questions about is about Blackburn. What was going through his mind or was anything going through his mind at the time? When he was falling from the helicopter did he have time to think of anything?

Chp3
“If we go into the vicinity of the Bakara Market, there’s no question we’ll win the gunfight, but we might lose the war.” I like the way that the guys think they can’t be touched. I also think that it’s pretty good that they think that if it gets there spirits ready to rumble. “Like a roller coaster at Six Flags!” I like this one because it’s just like life a big roller coaster; everything just goes round and round.

I feel kind of excited for Eversmann. I think it’s hard to be in Eversmann’s spot. I think it is heart racing to look after so many guys. Then have to worry about getting to someone and get them out is even harder. He is starting to notice that they are vulnerable and that’s not too good.

After Blackburn fell out of the helicopter there trip got longer because they had to start dealing with being shot at. If the play didn’t have the guys getting shot at then they would be done with there mission quicker.
