25th August 2003

Hello there!

A quick update of our webiste for you. Check out our website of the month which contain useful information which we invite you to share with your friends.

Meanwhile The Malta Cancer Foundation is organising a fund-raising concert by Argentinean Tango musicians and dancers at the Manoel Theatre (31 October, 1 and 2 November, 2003), under the distinguished patronage of his Excellency the President of Malta, Professor Guido de Marco. The Foundation, headed by Dr Stephen Brincat of the Oncology Department, was established four years ago and aims to improve the quality of life of people affected by cancer.  The Radiotherapy Department at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital is in the process of introducing new technology and techniques of treatment to improve results and decrease side-effects of the patients.  This is their first major fund-raising project.

The Argentinean pianist Natalio (Luis) Mangalavite together with Michele (Miguel) Ascolese on guitar will be accompanied by two Argentinean Tango dancers. Mangalavite graduated from the Conservator of Cordoba, then on to rhythmic studies in Rio de Janeiro.  He travelled all over South America playing with different Latin-jazz, Pop and Folk Bands.  He met and followed the great master Luis Vecchio to Las Palmas, Canary Islands, then on to Spain and later to Dakar and Senegal in Africa.  In 1980 he went to Italy and played piano for Ornella Vanoni.  He has participated in various television variety shows (Domenica In and Sanremo amongst others), and last year was the Maestro in the Rai Uno programme Operazione Trionfo.  In June 2002 he won the Gregari in Musica by the City of Torino as the best composer and then was guest pianist with the Cecilia Orchestra and the Kings Singers Choir.  He has released three CDs with different musical projects.  LUIS Y MIGUEL with Michele Ascolese, DNA INFLUENCE with DJ Pierandrea The Professor, and his third COLIBRI which features sax player Javier Girotta.
