Interested in knowing the basics of big, big, pool maintainence? Care to know why we just can't open the pool on a whim? Wellllllll, scroll, click away!

STAGE ONE

Preperations for pool opening begins in early spring, when the pool is still...well, icky.

The pool is never fully drained. This allows the walls of the pool not to cave inwards, allowing for a longer life to the pool. Unfortually, this does allow for algee growth. Leaves and dirt also find their way into the pool over the winter months.

STAGE TWO

The pool now needs to be completely drained so that the walls may be cleaned, and painted. This also allows us to fill the pool with fresh water. Some have asked and yes it is true. We do drain the pool with simple garden hoses. Draining takes about two weeks. A trash pump in used to get rid of the remaining sludge.

STAGE THREE

Now the pool is empty, the process of cleaning and repairing the pool interior begins. If there are any cracks or struture problems they are seen to first. Once that is completed we acid wash the interior of the pool. This includes three steps of applying a cleaning acid to the floors and walls, then a base to neturalize the acid, followed by a spray down of water.

STAGE FOUR

Now that the pool is clean a fresh coat of paint is applied.

STAGE FIVE

In the final step the pool is then filled with fresh water. Again, yes it's true. We do fill the pool with simple garden hoses. There is no other way.

STAGE SIX

As the pool is be filled chemicals are added to keep the water clean and safe for swimming. (This slow filling process allows does has it advantage by allowing a better balance of the chemicals allowing for better and faster results.)

The pool skimmers are turned on, a good sweep, and the pool is now ready to be enjoyed by one and all. At least until Labor Day.
